Im very critical of Goodwin but this is purely about our midfielders not working hard enough. Oliver and Brayshaw need to lift a lot.

Playing Melksham in the midfield falls on Goodwin. Playing Baker also. Goodwin cannot go out there and play himself though, so the players largely have to take most the brunt. However, Goodwin hasn’t helped us much today.

Why would you replace Viney when a soft outside player who can’t kick? Why not keep Gus and Ed on the wings and bring in Sparrow or Hunt as a direct replacement? Utter arrogance.
Brown will take a while to warm up. He looks totally out of touch and misjudging the ball.

One of the most frustrating things about being a Melbourne supporter is that we give the football watching world legitimate reasons to ridicule us. This is why. It’s not crazy to say we’re the only club who consistently offers up these opportunities. Unless we come out with something perhaps even more extraordinary, we ARE going to lose this game, and it COMPLETELY negates any argument that we are flag contenders. We simply can’t be.

Baker is not AFL standard.

Melksham awful.

Gawn has been dominated by Goldstein.

Oliver and Trac need to get a hold of the midfield.

McDonald missing.

North not missing a kick.

Baker should never play a game again.

Hibberd to cunnington. Kozzie in the middle, petracca fwd

I'd like to at least see that

Cunnington getting 400 possessions every time we play them is infuriating

Hibberds getting taught a lesson down back.

They are out working us, pure and simple. Every time it hits the deck they are outnumbering us. They have been able to get heaps of uncontested possessions, just like teams traditionally have against us. They aren’t going anywhere, and this is going to be a massive scrap to try and get out of here with the points. So filthy.

Maxy just Taps it straight to the opposition , no wonder we are losing clearance

FFS...should know better. Can understand he was upset but should know better. On the positive even a suspension wouldnt affect him.

Could have been the authorised one.

Is this game going to be a bit like Keating’s “recession we had to have”?

Just so soft and untrustworthy.

I thought at worst North might drag us down to their level before we eventually imposed ourselves, similar to the hwaks game. But the truth is North are playing us off the park. They are ahead on merit and we don;t deserve anything out of this game from here. The only hope we have is if North choke but i can't see it happening.

Max is having his worst game ever with plenty of others not far behind. Trac the only one who has fronted up. Credit to him. Fritsch and Kozzie have done ok as well. the rest have been deplorable.

Never completely place your trust in Melbourne. Not now. Not ever.

I still think we’ll win but Jesus we need about ten players to pull their finger out to pull this off.

It's people like you that are the problem. 'I still think we'll win'. Its a mindset like that that put us in this position to begin with. No idea which game you're watching but we're getting hammered all over the park.

Was really looking forward to winning this and bring on top. Now I’ve just accepted that we will lose and I’m just praying that it’s not a smashing

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
