Looking forward to seeing what Goodwin and Scott thought of that.

At least Swooper worked out the Lever stuffed up numerous Cat forward entries and gave him recognition. Numerous times the cats got the ball on the rebound but found they had no targets, they could only see Lever and when they took him on they lost every time. Great game by Lever.

I think that is the one of best games I’ve seen Viney play. I could have had so many others in the votes but thought these were the players that were a level above.

Oliver deserved to be in also...it was him or Salem. Salem’s last quarter was pivotal in holding the cats out. Loved it when he outmarked Guthrie twice in a one on one in the space of a couple of minutes.

A great team performance!

Lever over Salem by quite a bit.

hard to pick everyone but who kicks our goals without Fritsch?  critical player. kicked a 1/3 of our goals.  not sure we win without him

Yes agree to a point BuT ONE person started a Trade Fritsch post.

No apology yet to my knowledge.

Its onward and upward for Bayley and the Dees in 2021.

6. Langdon. Offered vital run all day and kicked an important goal.

5. Gawn.

4.  Petracca

3. Oliver.

1. Salem. Won some big 1 on 1's.

Insane that you can watch Kozzie Pickett play a game like he did today, but not see his name mentioned once in this thread.

Why?

Because there were several others that played EVEN BETTER.

Gotta love it.

6. Petracca - Best game for the year from Trac

5. Lever - Lever was bloody important after May's injury and showed true leadership

4. Fritta - He was brilliant with his kicking for goal

3. Oliver - They tried to tag him, they failed

2. Gawn - Big game from El Capitan

1. Salem - He is having an absolute cracker of a year, I don't think he was beaten once all day

Fritsch, Spargo, Oliver, Bradshaw all excellent as well.

We have all picked 6 players,

and we all have slightly differing views on the way the game played out, but I think there were at least another 10 players who deserved being picked in the best.

from one or two outstanding tackles, to beating Guthrie each time it came to him,  to being in the right spot as the ball came off the pack up forward, to miss by a bees donger, to sprinting in pairs down the wing, thought I was seeing double, to tacking 9 marks or heaps of hit outs and saving marks, or being on the bottom of a tackle not letting the ball get out, to Chunky playing like he deserves to be there, and JV walking tall past  Selwood on the ground,    Really yesterday we wer3 never in real danger,  got caught a bit in the third then settled down, what about Lever calming down the backs after a couple of poor decisions, great stuff

We played as a TEAM !   And  Hawkins should be cited and rubbed out !   Go Dees.  5 Zip.   Make it happen.

just goes to show how difficult it is for a backman to get recognised let alone be awarded a brownlow. Most would agree that Lever was among the very best on ground but nothing according to the so-called experts.

Gawn

Petracca

Lever

Viney

Oliver

0.5 Fritsch

0.5 Langdon

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
