Magnificent morning here in Canberra. I'm wondering the same thing re beers. My sister and her family are on the road on their way here. Their eta is 1pm...I might check to make sure the beers are drinkable around noon.

Went for a ride this morning to work off some pre-match nerves, it really is a superb autumn day.

Trying uoad a photo and keep getting a server error code: -200 whatever that means.

Looks like it's going to be ripping conditions up there Ken... how's it now, and have you seen any signs of demon-life in the capital?

It would be classic Dees to blow today so it is a good test to see how mentally tough they really are. Could be season defining.

Still not sold.

Seen it all before.

GWS are playing terrible football and we’re 2-0.  Historically, this is the sort of game we’d lose. Time will tell but I have very little confidence at this stage.

Very winnable game.

Brown and Weideman back training.

Stay focused and we can set our season up nicely.

How much do the players want it.

Could be. 3 -0 is a just massive start...and creates something in a club. Its so close, just hanging there like low lying fruit, waiting to be taken. hoping the dees are up to it.

Never need to post these days. It all gets said better than I could say it.

Let's harken back to the Northey days, when we had finally shrugged off the easybeats tag and had belief.

Langdon reminds me of the Febey twins. There is only one of him, but it always looks like two of him out there.

PS Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated, but the nusing home staff have learned better than to let me watch the dees games live. Too many solid objects thrown at too many screens.?

Got my 50 year MCC membership earlier this year. Wondering if that trumps my 50 year ban from the members.  ?

Good to hear from you Rollo.

Are you actually at a nursing home these days or still practising law in Wangaratta?

Is that the score

Dont like it. Melbourne will have to sit around most of today twiddling their thumbs and thinking too much. Much better flying up today having  a relaxing lunch then go for a light  run later and off to the game.

Should have booked everyone in to tour the National War Memorial. With a special prize for the first person to find the tribute to Bluey Truscott.

The time on periods are crucial.

Game opens up, fatigue sets in and their bodies aren't used to it. Last year, shorter periods and more inter-changes

Saw Sydney belt Richmond in the junk time. They wanted it more and the Tigers were not there.

Our fitness and will should help.

No switching off.

Currently enjoying a convivial at the Kingston prior to the game. Judging by the team colours on display we should out number GWS support by 3 to 1. Mind you Mrs DW and I make enough noise to drown out 40 oppo supporters

Results so far this weekend are why early season wins are so important. Doesn't matter how you win just win.

Some classic MFCSS in here. We will win.

I've just been enjoying the Romsey sun while slurping down 4 stubbies of Jameson and cola that one of my acolytes left behind. It's rubbish but alcoholic - the sort of stuff that @picket fencewould rate as a very fine brew.

Time to open a shiraz and start my pre game routine.

I note that a few above are less than confident.

Bah to that! I've loaded up on Sportsbet - my nethers tell me we're a good thing today!

I don’t. Where are the Bolsheviks?

Bring on the Revolution!

Would you have liked it better if I said a cheese sandwich and a glass of red? Because that’s all it is.

That seems so out of character uncle.  And i'm seeing that as an "unlike us" omen for this match.  Demons by 7 at a canter.

Spin the wheel...

Who's more uncomfortable with the favourites tag, the players or the supporters?

With Saints going down to the hapless Dons, and the Blues towelling up Freo, I’m getting an uncomfortable feeling that beating both means little, and we may be in for a shock today...

Gotta start well.

Go Demons.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
