Late yesterday I received an email from the MFC re going to the G for games. As I have said here previously I won't be going this year. Well until July at the earliest. Interesting that it hit not 24 hours before the lock down. Show the state of the world we live in. I answered the survey. Wonder what the season will end up being.

Didn't get that email OD.

If there is little evidence of the virus in the community I don't have a safety concern.

On the other hand masks, zones, entry times etc takes a lot of joy out of the exercise for me so I will not be racing along.

Hopefully the grassed slopes at Casey along with my comfy chair is an option for me as the year progresses. Doubt that visiting the 1/4 and 3/4time huddles will be permitted.

Yes of course I'll be attending the G but am fully expecting all the VIC clubs and Gil to be heading to SE Queensland in time for round 1.

We (VIC) just can't take a trick with the handling of COVID.

I will be going. Another lockdown and we are back in the land of stupidity.

Will be there with bells on.  (And am fully expecting a deflating loss to start the season in true Demon style).

Of course you are.

100% will be there for round 1 if allowed.

I expect a long lockdown in winter as Vic can’t trace and control cases. So I’ll be going in April while I can

I am in the kill zone BBP I am taking zero chances at the least until a large part of the population is vaccinated. Until then there is nothing that would get me to a game even if we are 8 and zero.

Well, I haven't seen a family member in a tick over 13 months so the 'G isn't high on the list.  On the other hand, get some good vaccine coverage that successfully suppressed spread as well as controls symptoms in individuals and we're really in business and it is very easy to imagine the whole family getting a good screech going at the 'G.

Dear Science,

Please save us.

Regards,

Everyone.

The lockdown will be longer then 5 days Dan the dictator already knows he will keep it in place for a month, mark my words, don't trust anything he says, he is a pit of lies.

I'll leave this up as a warning to all to please keep personal politics out of the footy threads.

Ok to predict we might be in lockdown for longer but let's not go down the political blame game rabbit hole. There are other venues to vent.

Yes, haven’t seen a live win for nearly two years, not that we are a certainty but still. Glad at least some supporters got to witness a live win last season.

I’ve missed going to the footy and having a couple of beers with my footy mate.

I will definitely go if it's allowed. My concerns about health and safety are there but minimal. If it came down to limited numbers I'd be happy to 'job share' with other members 1 game on 1 game off if something like that was put in place.

Not sure if Round1 but would really like to see the Saints  Cats  and Tigers games.
All depends upon Travel Lockdown and vaccine Plus AFL strategy of course.

Qld to Vic and return is very much like a Demons season ( of the past hopefully) plenty of highs and lows!!

Really want to see a young side selected So we can grow over the year, as youth is the exciting growth pattern to hit our team if we are to succeed in 2021.

OUT  (Depth and will get some games but not all in same team.)

AVB ANB Jets Milkshake Jonesy ( still will get 300 though) .

IN ( Opportunities early on for some but no restrictions over the season)

Laurie Bowey Rosman Jordon Sparrow and of course LJ Kossie and Riv. Even Nieitschke Chandler and Bedford are not without hope.
BBB of course after Round3/4.

Just hope we can all get there and celebrate these newbies combining with the old favourites!

I’ll be there for sure as long as we get this latest (and any other for that matter) outbreak under control. I’m not in a risk category and have been bolstering my immune system with vit C, D and zinc so I hope I can fend off this virus if I come into contact.

The best thing the govt can do now is move hotel quarantine to the regions and out of the CBD. This second leak confirms for me that leaks are inevitable so makes no sense quarantining in populated areas.

We are affected by  incompetence and political play making on many levels during this time

I cant believe what is being allowed to happen

But like everything on here we all have our views

Next month we we will all be scared of the Brazilian  strain or the south African strain and be shut down. Maybe this  is how we intend to deal with this in the long term God I hope not!

I wonder what the risk analysis really says. I will be definitely going tom the G whenever possible

I dont feel at any particular risk.

If the vaccine is available before the 1st round or any round l will go with confidence  The vaccine won't be 100% effective however it will be  enough for me to be at the G.

Roll out the vaccine it can't come quick enough..

Both my wife and I will be going (if allowed), we are 70 and we trust the science. The science of maths, at present you have a much higher chance of drowning than dying of covid 19.

If you dont go when you can, how do you know if you will be able with all these rule changes. Take what you can because....... I cant say the rest as it would be deemed personal politics.

Air travel will probably be out so I plan on jet-skiing it over from Perth for round 1. I’ll probably hug the coastline, have a pit-stop and refill in Glenelg, grab a sausage roll and an ice-coffee then continue on to the Yarra. Park up, walk to the ‘G, watch the game then head back.

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
