Watching Goodys press conference, Viney is still 2 weeks off, appears he has had a small setback. Might not play till after the bye is my gut feel.

I'd like to know when Viney's 2 weeks actually starts. It was originally 2 weeks duration when it happened 3 weeks ago and hasn't shifted since.

I also reckon these Injury Reports should be taken with a grain of salt. Jacko's broken finger wasn't reported in the R9 Injury Report at all - even though it was evident prior from both post R8 game images vs Swans as well as it was also being reported on DL that he'd miss.

Jackson ready to come back in this week ahead of schedule.

Viney also available for selection.

Scans have cleared Jake Bowey of any serious injury and he is available this week too.

I'm confused.

Viney available for selection.

In two weeks?

I"m not sure we can fully trust those graphics. Glad to hear Bowey escaped serious injury and will play this week. Also pleasing to hear Laurie will get back into training, presumably non-contact, and will be fit for VFL in the second half of the season.

****. I wonder whether that was an increase in load to try to get him right for this week.

Yep. Thank god it flared up at training and not during a game.
Seriously his feet are never not going to be a problem. That he can’t get thru training is a major worry.

Jake Bowey has made a miraculous recovery

Maybe not. Maybe it was just a minor injury in the first place.

man the injury report is a dogs breakfast. I thought Hore was out for the season. he’s now down at 10-12. i get that’s close to seasons end but that difference may be important if we get injuries close to finals.

The club love keeping their supporters in the dark regarding injuries.

Dare I say that the club isn’t keeping the supporters in the dark.

Instead they aren’t letting every opposition club know what’s wrong with one of our most important players, and therefore how to target him.

How do oppositions target 'a groin'?

And back to the subject, why was Goodwin so notably unforthcoming, when asked about the injury in his post-game?

It's interesting...the rumour/inside gos has been it's a groin.

...but if true there would seem little advantage in keeping it secret, it would be doubtful that he would play & no one to target.

Although it may keep the dogs guessing & having to plan even though he mightn't play. So may make sense.

However if it were a shoulder problem, or maybe a facial injury I could understand not telegraphing that to opponents.

Let's just hope he plays...

Target a groin?

Rightio.

Cripps has been playing with a sore back which every club has known about since round 1. Haven't seen anyone target his back.

Jack Viney's foot?

Not sure your view adds up.

Maybe it’s a slight strain and the club are not sure if he’ll get up so can’t say confidently either way until Wednesday training.

Sometimes imo these things are used to cover up something they'd prefer not to go public, for example a personal situation, breakup in a relationship for example. it's a good way to keep the media from digging into it and buy the player a bit of space.

Not saying that's the case with Christian but potentially it could be given the situation.

Seriously, what do you care?

There may be 100 reasons why they don't want others to know about a players injury.

Let them do their job.

Club had a light run yesterday and were doing ball skills etc.

Salem was restricted to jogging laps it seems.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
