2021 Injury List

Featured Replies

We will need to understand how long this will hold him up.  I think he and Hibbard might be more backups this year, and other young players might be ready to step up.  He will certainly add value to the squad and will be missed if its long term.

Bummer, I was hoping they were going to do some defensive drills this preseason

Maybe finally using his hammy to chase a defender, was what caused the injury?

Gee whiz who’s running the show down there. Injuries galore.

All clubs are copping injuries, wow a hamstring to a player who many on this site suggest should not be played the world has finally come to an end.

Sucks for him, but we can cover. I’d be looking at Harmes to move into that role and potentially give Fritta more time on the HFF.

The shame for Melksham is that he had a very poor 2020 and I was hoping he’d be looking for redemption in ‘21. Hopefully for him it’s not be serious.

Bring back Misson!

Good chance for Bowey or Laurie to get a half forward spot.
I was hoping Melksham would find some form the year to. Very important when he’s on.

And how’s his mate Hibbo? I don’t think he’s done a proper session yet all summer.

Given Melksham played the last 2 games of the year in the midfield averaging 9 possessions per game , I’m hoping we can cover him as a forward option.

He was fantastic in 2018 but hasn’t looked near it since.

How long is he out for? I thought we didn't train today?

That effort stuff.

Not conditioned for it.

Werridee we will have to wait until Channel 7/9/10/Fox or Sen let us know as for sure you will get nothing from the club!!

Should have let Burgess go to Adelaide when we had the chance!

It's all Missons fault!

We've never recovered from Bohdan Babijczuk's time at the club!

We suck when he doesnt get inside 50s. We dominate when he does.  Other teams know this and locked him down. Goodwin is amatuer and didnt work out how to release him. Doesnt need to now. Fingers crossed he returns.

Brown Knee, Hore ACL and Weid hip are unconnected injuries. This is the first soft tissue injury we’ve had for a while now (that I can recall) which suggests training methods, approach, load etc. are on point. If a pattern of soft tissue injuries emerges that’s when you need to worry.

Burgess is the best in the business. He’ll manage injuries properly and have this team cherry ripe for Round 1.

Bad luck for him but a great opportunity for one of the new crop. Not perturbed by this at all.

30 this year but still contracted for 2022. May have to spend some time at Casey. Hope he does that with the good grace shown by Lewis.

Me either, gave us nothimg in 2020. Fraser  Rosman can play his role!

I'm sure the club would love to hear your ideas on how to prevent players getting injured.

Yes particularly when there hasn't been any training as reported?

He was so poor last year especially for talented senior player in the LG in his prime.

I waited all season for him to come good and he didn’t. If he played with more intensity I honestly think we play finals last year. He is such a good link man with great decision making and kicking skills. But he doesn’t want to apply himself then we move on to the next guy

2020 the year of the bomb. 2021 the year of the sniper.

On the bright side, Melksham's is possibly our easiest role to cover with existing options, and if one or more of those replacements do well then he'll be forced to earn his way back into the team.

Melksham in good form is elite in his position, but he clearly got a little bit complacent last year.  You'd never wish an injury on anyone but if it sharpens his awareness of his own footballing mortality it could be a turning point for him.

A turning point at age 30, I don’t think so. He is not the future. We need to develop others. I thought last year that he had outlived his usefulness in footy terms.

Ernest I thought he suffered last year like a few others who were played out of position. He is a half forward or nothing IMO. It's like trying to turn Harmes into a Backman.

He played HF 3 quarters of the year. Only moved to midfield towards the end of the season to try to find form. No more excuses for melksham

It would appear that you wont have to worry about him in the early part of 2021  DubDee.

If Fraser doesn't play it Laurie or Bowey will and Fraser plays his natural position which he will make his own the wing opposite  Langers!!

That’s a big ask for kids in their first year of AFL.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
