I hope he has some injury that is preventing from being able more mobile. Let's hope Burgess can work his magic and Tom comes good in 2021.

Let's hope Burgo hangs around for this!

There are bound to be clubs interested in him, who can back themselves to get him right physically and mentally.

He is a 28 year old key position player, who can play both forward and back. He is in bad form, and his body seems shot, but honestly there will always be takers for his type. Not sure what we would get back, but if both parties want out, I am sure it can be done.

If Tom played for another club, we would be saying "lets look at McDonald to help Weideman".

Straight swap with Gunston if the Whoreks can be treated as Suckers.

What’s the update? I believe his management is trying to get the media to get some trade activity going. I think his $$$ contract may scare off his potential suitors.  I wouldn’t like us to have to pay for example 1/3rd of his salary out of our cap if he leaves. That’s rubbish business imo.

So what changed? I thought he was set to stay.

We've found ourselves a replacement and/or the original mail he was staying was to try and get a bit of value out of him by making it look like he was a required player?

Probably clutching at straws with the second bit.

Interesting that Collingwood have asked the question given how tight their TPP is.

De Goey possibly De Gone?

Love it....

“Maybe he’s destined to return to the backline. I’m not sure where Collingwood see him fitting in but they recruited Jeremy Howe as a forward and turned him into one of the great defenders of the last five or six years.”

Whatever deal is done, you can bet that we'll be paying at least part of his salary for the next two years.

And that is why Collingwood is interested, they have an NGA kid that is ranked a mid teen pick, most likely will still get there first round pick and this kid.  They just need the points to cover.

I’d say it’s partly because the Ben Brown deal Is most likely happening.

It seems such a sharp U-turn from just a week ago when he was slimming down to win his spot back, that I tend to agree.

Brown, or another forward (are there any on the table?) must on their way to us.

Has always wanted out, but there's been minimal interest; so hard to move on when that's the case.

Old news. It has been widely reported that a TMac trade was open for negotiation, but the sticking point with potential suitors was the size of his contract. And it seems that no club wanted to take that on. A slow news week so they roll this one out again.

A replacement for Lynden Dunn?

Question. I'm confused by this notion that clubs would be scared off by his salary. A club brings him in and they would negotiate a new contract, right? Maybe we pay a portion to satisfy all parties as best as possible - but failing that he stays at Melbourne as an outsider and doesn't get a game. I know this isn't ideal for us - but if he's grumpy and wants out he can take a pay-cut. Like employment decisions normal people have to make.

I really like him as a player, but jeez he has been off the boil (bar one game) in two years. We have essentially played without him this year, eve when he was in the team.  Brown has played his role, and against the bombers, gave him a lesson.  Unless he drastically improves, he is surplus to needs.  Would need to have confidence that he could drop the weight and play the way we know he can.  Otherwise it is better to both parties to have him go elsewhere.  Lets find a sucker (suitor) and see what the deal looks like.

It may just be hear say but I have heard we may be signing Shaun Mckernan on a two year deal.
Replaces Preuss and also another forward option.
No official mail on this but thought it would be good to discuss.

Hate the habit of bagging our players, particularly those who have given their all and are simply moving on because of the way modern sport has to be.  Tom has been a great servant for us if he needs to move on to get a list spot, good luck to him.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
