Only 3?

Richmond and West Coast "only" won three more games than us this year. I suppose we're not that far off them, then?

Look, the gloating over Essendon struggling to retain players is understandable. It's not hard to dislike them. But when we're as devoid of recent success as they are, it's a bit dangerous really. Who knows whether we'll be able to retain all our players if we don't start winning finals soon.

At last.  A sensible post on this rubbish thread.

Posts over at Bomberblitz have never been so entertaining to read. Hahahaha.

As entertaining as when they were “so unfairly penalized” for dabbling in an illegal and immoral drug experiment.

i have no issues with daniher being a band 1 compo - no different to us losing frawley

if saad is worth a 5 year deal at big coin to carlton then surely he's worth a first round pick in terms of trade

it will be interesting to see what essendon do with their trio of picks in a row

ultimately it comes down to the culture of the club and how they manage that more than bringing in top line quality players

Daniher has hardly pulled on a boot for two years.
If he is worth a top 10 pick then so is Tom McDonald.

Quite likely they'll also be trying to grab a superstar marquee la la la player (remember when the Demons were going to be turned around by a hail mary grab at Jonathan Brown? Or, perhaps most precisely relevant, the Judd trade) because that's the kind of decision clubs are pressured to make when impatient rich supporters poke their nose in and insist they know the answer.

...

Diamond Jim Tillbrook springs to my senile mind.

If that is true I would absolutely go after him.

Bombers imploding, and now North imploding:

Will Rhys Shaw be coaching again? Don't think so. Wish him good health though

Longbow called crisis meeting of board earlier in the year

A prodigal son is reluctant to be Kangas senior coach in 2021. Will need help like we had.

Could all be just a Roos though.

North are not Scott free of outstanding coaching payments. Hard to pay out two senior coaches and have $ for another

Players given up, assistants given up. The clean out continues. Armafio trying to call the shots, but hasn't earnt the right yet. Pissing many off.

North are sliding so far south, AFL thinks they might need a better map of Tassie in the next couple of years.

It will take an almighty effort for them to turn around. They are truly in the [censored] hole

I see Robo in the Hun this morning suggesting it might be time for Hird to return. How can anyone suggest that the drug cheat coach should ever be back at a club. It beggars belief.

Crikey what does Robbo want? The bloke already opted for the big sleep once before. Reckon he has to just make a life now.

Surely there’s no harm in laughing at the bombers? Do we not deserve some fun after the last two years? Sure we could fall apart in the next couple of years but screw it ?

We were in the ponsford stand second deck.

Will never forgive Long.

Binman has essendon were i had Carlton

It is no longer a good idea to pity carlton

That the worst thing I have ever seen on a footy field, long waited for simmo to bend over before he charged in, his intent was to knock him out, long luck he did break his neck, because long would have been a dead man

An interesting post on what’s been going on at Bombers. One part of the picture, but I think one for all clubs to take note of:

Got a call from The Vatican that whispered Hird and Watson both give their Medals back and redemption is nigh.

Notwithstanding that they, George etc, are very busy trying to redeem the Democratic Republic of US at the moment.

Heard Kevin Sheedy being interviewed by 3AW on Saturday about his appointment to the Essendon board. If I'd been an Essendon supporter I would have been sorely disappointed. Sheedy could not justify his appointment beyond saying it gave the board someone with coaching experience. He couldn't articulate why that was going to be helpful. Probably because it isn't going to help.

Sheedy has been good for Essendon over many years, but making him a director now is another step backwards showing that the club has not yet understood that reliving past glories is not the way forward.

There's a moral there for us, too. For exactly the same reasons, we need to be sure that whoever we appoint to the Board, or to any role at the club, will take us forward and not return us to some idea of a glorious past. If Brad Green can add something to take us forward, then I'm all for his addition to the board.

Glass houses 'titan', I agree.

We are in a precarious position.

...and I hate EFC as much as anyone.

The one thing I think they did make a huge mistake on was not trading Joe & Fanta last year.

Most people could see it, it's not hindsight but it was stubborn stupidity on their behalf.

They could have grounded 2 good kids this year and be on their way.

A costly mistake, particularly if they don't get the return they hope for with Joe.

I guess they chose to roll the dice on improving from last year and selling success to Daniher and Fantasia as the way to keep them. Maybe that and also an element of trying to tell the industry, and/or their own list, that if you're under contract you don't just walk. That latter bit doesn't appear to have helped them much.

I didn't rate them last year despite their top 8 finish and given what was reportedly on the table for Daniher (two first rounders), I'd have 100% done that deal.

TWSNBN do not need Sheedy. They need Mitchell and i hope they CANNOT get him, because he would attract the right {new blood}support .

God the herald sun love getting Hird's father involved. The bloke only played 4 games for the dons. Now he is trying to blame David Evans. Seriously your son stuffed up and trusted the wrong people.

My issue is I don't care if what was taken was illegal or not it was morally disgraceful what they did to the players.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
