He's not happy. But I'll bet my first born he starts pre season at Gosch's

If I am interpreting your message correctly, I hope like hell the club review sorts this out ASAP.

And i got howled down for this exact comment..

Thanks Chook. I am actually not surprised one bit.

Have said it before, 2021 looms as the most crucial year in the MFC  history if we want to keeps the likes of Oliver and Petracca.

Any idea what he's not happy about @Chook in Perth? Lack of finals/direction of the club or other behind the scenes stuff?

Tom Morris said he 'sooked it up about finishing 5th in B & F. Clarry believes he should have finished higher.

I have to admit so do I, but I have no idea if Tom is on the money.

How Jack Viney finished ahead of him is beyond the joke.

Voting system is flawed.

Upset he finished 5th so I'll sook it up.

I must be getting old, but that is weak as [censored].

Settle down..

It hasn't been confirmed that is the case. I've known Oliver since his days when we spent time together at the bushies and he is a competitive animal where all he cares about is winning games and having succes.

The individual stuff is something that I believe was not part of his love for the game.

He's probably getting restless and frustrated with his time at the Dees. In his 5 years at the club he's played finals once.

He has every right to feel frustrated at the club.

I would understand if it were one of Petracca or May have finished fifth, who were our two standouts, but fighting over a bronze medal...spare me.

If we hadn't traded to gain pick 3 in his draft, Oliver would now be playing for Essendon.

He would then have some real reason to whinge.

Biggest BS ever .. if any player wanted to leave based on this .. show them the door! Great clubs & clubs that win flags are based on selfless acts & their aim isnt awards but that last day holding the cup up!

i'd be putting a big offer infront of Z.Merrett, i think it's unlikely he'll leave this year but lay the ground work for 2021.

I'm going to keep pushing this barrow. Merrett for Weideman and our future first. Enough?

I'd go and get Brown who we'd get more goals out of than Weideman. Play Jackson as the mobile tall. Tom McDonald either stays or goes.

But we aren't a great club and haven't been for more than half a century.  There are few signs that we will be in the foreseeable future.

Why should young men like Oliver and Petracca etc bust a gut to be the best they can be, hang around a club when many others don't and that has a sub-standard coaching panel.

We have a handful of players doing the heavy lifting; the rest are along for the ride.  Oliver isn't one of the latter.  He consistently does more than his fair share.

Oliver not happy with the lack of success and direction at Melbourne, so he decides to fraternise with Carlton... Okay. This is their 45th rebuild since 1995. If I was chasing stability and a club that was guaranteed to be at the pointy end of things in the short term I'd be heading to Carlton too. (Insert sarcasm emoji here.)

Anyone see the irony in this?

Its good for the soul. I agree completely re 2021  You get the feel that many are happy to look forward to success next year always next year. I reckon we are now running out of next years

This is the bit that seems off about the whole thing, Oliver could walk into any team so it would make sense to go to Saints, Dogs or Pies if he wants a Vic side. They all could use his help and will be a lot more likely to guarantee finals

I doubt the B&F result is the thing that has him miffed, but I think there’s probably been enough evidence in his body language early on that he was unhappy

Don't the players have to take the ownership along with the coaches and club to bring success.  I hate seeing statements like"we need success or Oliver will leave" how about Oliver becomes that match winner when it matters like against Fremantle and Sydney.  Our good players go missing when it matters, they turn the ball over at critical times of he match and in Oliver's we need to see him play more games like the one I think V North when he was Judd like bursting away from the contest, taking the game on and kicking the football, that is the Oliver we need not the one that get 20 1m flick handballs per game.

On trade targets, we need to sound out Geelongs Ratugolea, if we are going to lose Preuss this guy is idea 2nd our 3rd tall Foward/Ruck.  He would slot at CHF and work well with Jackson and Weiderman.  He would be upset at Geelong and now rumours they are going hard for Cameron just pushes him further down the chain.

Fair points and I'm not upset

I admit i dont know the details, but  i find the rumour bemusing and selfish that a player can be so impatient with success but not actually be a complete player himself. Let's not kid ourselves he's not a brownlow medalist.

Anyway what will happen will happen. He will either step up or sook it up we will see.

I would argue Langdon had a bigger impact than Oliver this year and was not surprised by his higher B&F finish (Viney I am less confident though). Oliver seems to be at that age where he is impatient and frustrated but has not recognised he is coming into the years where he should not be following the pack but leading the way and dragging others along with him. We are coming into the year where this should be Oliver, Trac and Lever’s team, they should be setting not following the culture. They are not the kids anymore they should be showing what is the expected levels of training, focus, game day performance, not just theirs but those around them. The penny dropped for Trac (who seemed just as frustrated a year ago) and I suspect the penny will drop for Oliver in 2021. I would under no circumstances trade him this year whether he openly states he wants out or not.

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
