I think we need TMac in so that Andrews can go to him.

TMac has the experience and strength to go up against Andrews. Even if TMac occupies Andrews possibly further up the ground could be an advantage.

Curious what makes you think that Andrews would go to TMac over Weid? If Andrews takes the number one forward, then he'll go to Weid regardless of TMac being in the team. If I were Brisbane, I wouldn't be fussed playing the second key defender (McStay is it?) on him.

Play TMac on a wing? - has a great tank

...he certainly turns like one!!

Seriously why put him on the wing ahead of Tomlinson who is basically the same size, has the same aerobic capacity, and is as good aerially? and is a much better two way runner and quicker than TMac.

Andrews will go with who ever plays deep, he won't just follow Tommy around.

As for Tommy playing on a wing, he has the turning circle of the titanic....they would love him on the wing.

I would be very surprised to see Tommy play.

He will get his opportunity with the short turnarounds.

I AVB is out injured then we're more likely to see either ANB or Jones come in for him.

My gut feel is that TMac would have had a day out against the Hawks. It's very tough on Jacko but I think Tommy comes in.

It won't happen but I'd also like to see Rivers or Jones for Lockhart.

Rather leave out AVB and bring in Tommy to take his wing possie. AVB gave it up too often with direct short passes to the opposition.

TMac would make a good trade to Hawthorn to be with his other ex-teammates. He should now be battling his brother for a possie in the backline. His days as a key forward are behind him. Look to the future.

Think we are jumping the gun, Weed and Jacko look great but one game isn't enough to go by, T Mac still has to be our best forward untill these guys can preform for a season

If the Vanders news is correct then I think we have 5 realistic options:

1. McDonald in at CHF. Some combination of Bennell, Harmes, Fritsch on a wing.

2. ANB or Spargo in at half forward. Bennell/Harmes/Fritsch wing

3. Jones in on the wing and/or half forward.

4. Tomlinson on the wing

5. Hunt on a wing.

The option I like best might actually be Hunt. Attribute wise he's probably the most similar to Vanders in that his speed to cover off defensively is vital. He didn't have the tank to play wing under normal circumstances but with the shorter quarters he can do really short burst rotations. It's the most risky but most upside of the replacements IMO.

If you're bringing in TMac for Jackson, what part of Jackson's game on Sunday do you point to in order to give him an understanding on why he's being dropped?

dropped chest mark from the bullet pass

he'll be listed as out injured for bruising to the chest

That was very reminiscent of the old Neitz rubber chest, if you saw him do that early you could just about bank it he’d have a mare.

Definitely shouldn’t be dropped though, if Tommy comes in it shouldn’t be at his or Sam’s expense.

There was talk he broke his jaw vs Hawthorn, but no official anything since so unsure (had the injury report on the AFL website and on the Melbourne website and neither showed it).

No parts I thought he performed very very well. He stays for mine,I can however see that if TMac is fit he might Just might take the place of Vanders who could be injured or Melksham

  • Charlie Cameron is a tough match up for us and a key to winning. He is way too fast for Jetta and too good in the air for Lockhart. Joel Smith could be our best match up from an athletic perspective.
  • I still think Jones off half back would make us a better side.

Fully agree.

Cheekbone apparently, this is what Goodwindees said in the thread about AVB:

"Guys, it hasn't been reported yet, but to show you how tough & committed to the cause that Aaron is, he suffered a triple fracture to his cheekbone early in the second quarter and despite blood trickling continually down the inside of his nose & throat he totally downplayed the knock and kept playing."

MFC site has AVB missing 2 weeks now. Confirmed cheek fracture.

question is making the tough call to go with like for like... or whether they will just try to include TMac.

If TMac comes in it can only be for Jackson - and its only due to structure and opposition - otherwise for most other teams he would stay this week.

If AVB is injured, you can only play Tomlinson on wing.  We tried everyone there last year and all failed dismally.

Other than that, dont change a winning side unless you have to.

Bugger! Crap time for it to happen as well, credit to @goodwindees for the scoop!

I think they will try to squeeze TMac into the team because of this, rotate Weid and Tom as FF/CHF. LJ can play as a bit of jack of all trades role, start him in the forward pocket, give him all ruck time when it’s not Stef Martin, possibly even play him as a midfielder.

Really not ideal for AvB, bloke can’t take a trick.

Jones and ANB probably in the mix as well.

Top work goodwindees. Two weeks would best case scenario you'd think given.

Negatives: will really miss his aggression, tackling and perhaps most of all the perceived pressure he creates.

All will be missed against two very good, but pretty young teams. And both games are super important.

Positives: can still do aerobic work, so can continue to build fitness.

Wont have to travel and can help look after the kids back at the hub.

Not his foot.

Won't miss his woeful kicking in the last few games. Will be fresh When He comes back.

As the late john kennedy would say. Its only the head and he could still run and kick.

But good news its not his foot. Will be welcomed straight back.

As much as I love AVB I reckon Tomlinson makes our side better anyway. But regardless fully agree that tmac only comes in for jackson and its not a call I would make for this week.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
