TEAMS: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast

Featured Replies

Tomlinson, rivers, Smith and hunt out.

Weid, bennell, OMac and Jetta in

How well am I going:

Backed in Smith - he gets dropped.

Backed in Rivers - he gets dropped.

If anyone wants someone dropped just let me know and i'll be all over it for you.

On the other hand, really good to see Bennell and Weideman in the side, and I think Nev will bring in some experience as well.  Bit meh on Oscar but I'll be hoping he does well.

I like this team a lot more than I have liked the teams over the last few weeks.

Good inclusions and a better overall structure.

Will be watching VdB closely as he is the one in the team that I would have replaced.

Didn’t see last game, but thought Tomlinson has been serviceable last few weeks, bit stiff?

I like the improved personnel and structure.

I like the changes. Makes the team more balanced in my view. Hopefully it shows on Saturday night.

Omac, oh god.

Hope he has improved.

I posted in the changes thread that Tomlinson jibbed a few contests and was weak in his tackles and the FD wouldn’t like it.
He will be back, but hopefully harder and more committed.

Nope, has been exactly as expected and why I was disappointed we chased him. Lacks urgency/intesity in contested situations, takes to long to move the ball when marking it and then does nothing with his kicks. The only time he did something noteworthy was the accidental pass to Hunt against Carlton. The amount of times he has made good position and then dropped marks against undersized opponents is infuriating.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • PREGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons are back at the MCG for the second week in a row. They face the Suns off a 15 day break without their prized recruit and former Demon champion Christian Petracca. This will be a massive test for the Demons who will be facing a genuine Premiership contender. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
