If you’re currently a member will you renew your membership next season or if you’re not a member would you even consider signing up for next season? Something smells rotten at the club, I don’t know what it is but it was evident after last nights lack of effort/care-factor. If the players can’t be bothered trying, I can’t  be bothered renewing mine and my families memberships next season.

The biggest disappointment for me is the flow on effect from making a Prelim to finishing second last (Gold Coast don’t count as a real team so really, we’re going to finish last). I think we’ll see a significant drop off in members next season after a record number this year. It’s disappointing but I’m over financially and emotionally supporting this basket case of a club. So who’s going to renew?

(I was going to add a poll but the option disappears after the page fully loads).

I will renew, only after mass changes are made. If Jones and Viney remain Captains, then i will take no interest.

I will take great interest as to what Darren Hughes has in store for the list over Summer. The AGM will be watched carefully. If the Club just regurgitate spin at me I will keep my wallet closed

I hope other Members feel the same way. The Club must be put on notice, lift your game...

As a Queenslander, no.

After our improvement last year my partner (Collingwood supporter) and I chose to get Interstate memberships and fly down to Brisbane and Melbourne to see more of the football.

I’ll be going back to using my spare time and money on holidays I don’t return depressed and disappointed from.

More gutted and disheartened than any of the 30+ years I’ve supported the club 2bh ?

Yes, though being a interstate family membership I think I don't shell out as much in $$$

Plus the packs keep my kids interested to an extent.

Fair enough for the kids, I remember as a young fella getting my pack at the start of every year was something I looked forward too, regardless of how our previous season went. Luckily my little one (and the one due in October) will be too young to remember/know what a membership pack is.

Nope.... no way.

Im going to spend that money on something that will make me feel better. I already give to a cat charity in Thailand, so i will just be adding extra to my support next year.

Wiseblood is going to buy an extra membership for whoever doesnt re-sign anyway.

Our little group talked about it last night after the game. Group started with nine of us that became friends during out time in the Redlegs, My father, myself, my wife, our two kids and two other couples. Expanded to eleven with kids partners before fate stepped in and took the first my dad. Then added three more (grandkids) before fate struck again taking two more including my wife. One more added since another grandchild.  We are all members and go most weeks, though must admit getting more difficult with kids sport commitments. We will stay members regardless, or until fate steps in again.

I will not automatically renew this October. I'll wait until the first month of the 2020 season. If it's a repeat of this year, I'm done.

never even a question in my mind. Our club , more than almost all others,  is really affected by member drop offs.

unless i’m dead , ill always renew

This was my thought process every year up until now. But I’m finding it extremely difficult to hand over money to a club whose players clearly don’t care and aren’t trying.

This club could drag me down the Monash Freeway by the balls and then hose me down with vinegar and for some reason id still renew. Kills me but I bloody love the joint.

Already endured the worst of the worst, so why would I stop now.

Deep down I must get off on this [censored]. Bring it on.

To all those who will renew, at least make the club earn it. They need to know that the support base has had enough

At least wait until the AGM to hear what the plans are. Don’t give them free money ?

Yes, I will renew for all of us. I try not to worry about the financial aspect even though it’s hard more often than not with 4 young kids. It’s become a great family outing over the last few years (obviously not enjoyable this season). The kids understand the game a bit better now and I’d like to keep it that way.

I also understand people have a breaking point, I’ve also asked myself if the time invested on Game Day is really worth it, especially after performances like last night.

Gossip and rumour of course, but yes the things I've heard paint a very poor picture from the board down.

There is division in the board, there is a 'click' group of Mahoney, Goodwin and Viney (Snr), there is a split between the co-captains, there is unrest with one co-captain in particular among the playing group, a president who has the biggest ego out of all of them and there is a growing disconnect with former greats of the club, both players and others, who have been basically shunned from the club.

Some of those things can be improved by winning games, simple as that, but we are very very much on a knife edge right now.

Will wait and see!! Have had 40 continuous years of membership.  Too raw and early.  I want to see what they do in the off season first. The club needs a strong message from mostly forgiving supporters.  Depends who wants to accept mediocrity from their football club until their death. How many coaches have this club burnt through?  Is there anybody who can coach this club to a flag?  Yet to find them in 55 years

Yes. The club is more important than the players, coaches or administrators.

Next year is my 20th consecutive and 25th overall. (Missed a year as I didn’t work for a year with injuries).

Went a full year when recovering from a broken hip. This year I’ve not watched any game not involving Melbourne, turned games off, not even turned games on that did involve us.

I’m 99% sure I’m done or at most a country membership. The four hour+ round trips and cost ain’t fun and we will be welcoming Sunday twilight games next year. Auto renew will be cancelled. Reserved seat and GGF def not taken.

Hope im the jinx and it works out well for the rest of you.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
