Who's this Bruce Gibbs fella?

He played for Carlton once, like Bryce Doull ( who was a decent defender but had less hair) You surely remember him.

OMG.  Why not just close the club down, or  sell off Ollie, Brayshaw, Gawn and anyone else who could help us get somewhere?

I am 100% certain that GC$ would love to have Clarrie.

i'm pretty sure there would be 17 clubs lining up to get him, not just GCS.

Now they can write the same article on the Pies and suggest clearing DeGoey and Stevenson to the Suns.

1. Paying Oliver a mega deal would hurt the Suns, they have to pay every one of their current players 20% over to stay, they’d lose 4 to bring in one big money guy. Nice idea but it won’t happen.

2. Tom McDonald was the main man last year even with Hogan and we rarely played 3 talls together. We need Melsham back and a 3rd tall cover for Jake. Joel Smith was the plan. The draft is probably the long term answer.

3. Gibbs has lost pace and hunger for the ball, his future is probably as a half back and we’ve already got Jones for that.

4. Langdon is an obvious move and Butler is a nice proposition as well, he’s got that bit right.

Trade Clarry - BJ must be on the Juice - @#F$%^S&^%.........................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ronald Dale  says hello.

How old was Ronald when he left, his playing career was over by then, he went to Carlton mostly as a coach, and why did he because norm smith told him to, if he wanted to coach.

The available range of emojis does not adequately accord with the mirth I am currently experiencing.

I am feeling most mirthsome.

The article didn’t suggest the Dees should trade Oliver, but rather the Gold Coast should target him... there’s a big difference.

If I were in charge of an horrendously underperforming side, I’d make overtures to ANY talented player also

If Gibbs and Lever are worth 2 first rounders, GC would need to stump up 3. Or 2 + Jack Martin.

Last player i would trade.

Yep, we would need 3 x number one picks to even get close to drafting a player as good as Oliver.

This is the sort of article you read in the off season.

Click bait "r" us.

Why stop at Clarry, why not have a garage sale and sell the whole place?

Yes lets give up our good players to start yet another rebuild?

Now that is an interesting thought. Let's start  a topic anew: Who to trade at season's end - and how much will we get for these players? Or, Who not to trade under any circumstances - otherwise, empty to lists?

I'd start with the latter.

Gawn, Clarrie, Gus, Salem, Petracca, Frosty, May, Jetta, Melksham, J. Smith.

Goddard has always been a muppet. If Melbourne traded Clarry, that'd be it for me.

Goddard is correct, of course GC should go after Oliver, they’re a mess and they need A-grade talent. I obviously hope it doesn’t happen though.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
