Anyone else a little concerned Goodwin says they’re leaving the decision on playing Viney ‘completely up to him’?

Jack’s pretty much admitted he’s rushed himself back before and we know what happened then.

Surely the medical staff should be involved in this decision, but hey, that’s probably for the Shaun Smith thread...

GC at full strength aside from Rory Thompson who’s out for the year. We usually play them when they’ve got half a team out.

A few per cent off from last week and we probably lose this one.

I'm sure he is capable of learning from his mistakes. Just cause he brought himself back underdone last time doesn't mean it will certainly happen again. In the end, it is him who knows his body best, and you could even say that the last incident has made him even more acutely aware of his body, injuries and recovery timelines.

It's still a strange comment though. I think it's probably being taken a face value a bit too much and I doubt the medicos have no say in it.

Maybe the medico's have given him the all clear and it's Jack who is wondering whether he is ready or not?

Surely no reason to risk Viney if he is in any doubt whatsoever - we have plenty of contested ball winners to match it with whoever Gold Coast have, if Harmes, Brayshaw, Oliver, Jones etc can't get it done in midfield we're in big trouble anyway.

I'm also less concerned given my recollection that the reason he missed against Hawthorn was the hit he took to his shoulder against Richmond, not his reoccurring foot issues.

I'm hoping that Viney is sufficiently fit, plays and plays well.  Whether we are a realistic chance to play finals or not, we need to start stringing some confidence and form together to build beleif back up within the side and a fit Jack Viney helps that.  We are a much better side than we have been playing like for most of this season.

No doubt its going to be tough to win, even if we were in really good form, the Suns have shown they are a much better and harder side to play against. It does feel like they only have one real avenue to goal, so that will be the key, our defence to be really on and we can counter attack and score.

Agree, you really to have wonder about this stuff. Surely the medical staff are involved ? Sure you need the players input but a bloke like Jack is his own worst enemy. Should be rested and the decision made by medical staff and coach.  Leave it up to Jack? You must be joking.

Gold coast will play a quick game. We will have to be 100 % on to win this.

Viney in for ANB.

Settled line up - and suspect that it will more or less stay that way till May, Lever etc. come into the frame. Unless the wheels come off.

Agree with that. Feel like we're starting to splutter back into life, and there were some good signs last week, but personally I don't think we'll really get going till after the bye.

Fiorini is a huge out for them. Young is also a handy player out

I’m not overly worried considering they haven’t beaten us since 2014.

Oh no, what have you done? Suns forum is now running with a ‘When will Gold Coast break these embarrassing records’?

Jack's thought process ...

"Am I recovered from my injury? Let's see now ... it only hurts when I breathe. Yep! Am I ready to run through someone? ..... if I only do it using one leg, yep!  Am I ready to crawl over broken glass? That'll only hurt my knees ... might even give my foot a rest. Good to go!"

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
