Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

POST GAME: Rd 04 vs Sydney

Glad to see some of our out of form players like Jonesy, Viney, Trac and Hunt return to form tonight, even T & O Mac I thought started looking better as the game went on (though both were comming off a pretty low base).  Also good to see good games from emerging players Preuss and Hore, who I thought was pretty important for us.

I thought the Weid was pretty quite and had minor impact for most of the game, but did some really good stuff for us in the last quarter when it was there to be won.  That 50m goal was a sensational kick for goal under pressure and I thought he also did alot of other little things like tackles, a few good marks and knock on's in the last quarter.

Harmes was really good early when we were struggling a bit, as was Jones, who went on to play a great captains game, along with Viney to some degree.

This is the start of a new Era.

All embarrassing Hoodoos have now been broken. Sydney was the last team we hd not beaten for 9 years. We have also now won on everyone ground in the last 5 years except for Hobart.

Trac  needs to bring that mindset every game.  He was a bull tonight.

That attitude is the base,  he has to start from every week.

That attitude will bring him results week in, week out.....  because it will take him to the contests.... and it will bring the ball in his direction.

Loved Hunts two games up forward. Doesn’t get a heap of it, but he’s so damaging with his pressure and hits the scoreboard. Ticks all the boxes needed for the small/medium forward type player. He and Petracca really stood up tonight.

I'm with you.

Didn't sound like it...

i hope not.

May wasn't ready for his first game in rednblue,  and he wasn't ready for the Cats game.   He sure as hell won't be ready for next week...  unless they want him injured, again.

Glad to see the end of the Swans once and for all. They can enjoy playing in front of crowds of 5000 now.

Bye, bye.

I am so proud of the boys tonight.  I've almost got a tear in my eye.  We've been smashed from pillar to post these last three weeks, some of it warranted, some of it over the top, and when the Swans got 20 odd points up you could argue that we were in big, big trouble.

But we didn't panic.  We went back to playing the Melbourne way.  We hassled.  We tackled.  And by God we took our chances.  This was a modern Melbourne performance and you could almost sense, when we got up, that we weren't going to give it up.

The one person I want to single out is Nathan Jones.  Under the pump from all and sundry, he steps up to kick three crucial, captain's goals to help us win this game of footy.  How bloody good is it?  Right the man off at your peril.

I also thought Marty Hore, another to cop it on here, really stood up down back, particularly early.  Also to Frosty who did a pretty good job on Buddy!

But stuff it.  How good is it, everyone?  I love this club.  We have won this game when, with the injuries and the history against the Swans, we had no right to win it.  As I said earlier, it's shades of the '98 game over in Perth.

Kudos to the coaches, players and everyone else involved for lifting and keeping our season well and truly alive.

And I'm proud that I never lost the faith!  DEMONS!

Ahem Clarry Choo Choo sensational coped two extreme hard hits and created  stellar ball movement with telling possessions! SUPERSTAR!!

Immensely proud of the boys. I have been a Jones knocker of late and I’d like to apologise. Yes, he made errors again tonight and looked slow at times, but he put us on his back at the same time and kicked captain’s goals.

Things clicked tonight in patches. We busted Our guts. Blokes put their body on the line. Hunt was magnificent. He has found a spot. Leave him there. Let him chase and attack and he will bob up and kick a couple a game.

Let us go on with it next week. Must build on it.

Well said.

He has been slaughtered in the first few weeks by our useless delivery,  going inside F50...  and also TMc's poor showings.

Preuss took some of the heat off Weide and TMc tonight... and Gawn as well.   This imo showed,  and helped all of them.

He played alright tonight DV8. Stats aside, he did chase, tackle and contest the ball in dispute and hit the scoreboard.

Got to bring this effort every week.

So I broke my phone when I saw Oscar got out marked by Reid in the 2nd quarter...

Missed the rest of the game, I take it the game when in an upwards trajectory from the point of me breaking my phone...

I’m reserving judgement on Preuss the forward. One goal was plucked out of his arse on the boundary from the ruck, the other a long kick that a competent defence would have touched. Don’t get me wrong, quite happy to take two goals and enjoyed his physical play, just not quite ready to crow yet.

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun
