Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Collingwood are going to be very hard to beat if they can maintain this intensity throughout the year.  Their run, spread, effort and physicality is first rate.

I used to think Buckley was hopeless but I actually think he’s s good coach - they play for each other and seem to have a really good team spirit going

Buckley's matured now, into a very good coach.   He always had the vision of player types he wanted.

So he didn't compromise on skill.

The game has been changed toward his direction.

Really enjoying watching Brisbane this year, entertaining game between them and Port so far.

Aside from Mathieson continually dropping the knees for high frees...

Who gave the go ahead to let Howe walk?

What'd we get in return?

If a player walks, they walk... there's not a whole lot we can do about it.

He wanted to leave.

Why?

We let good talent leave.

These umpires are killing the game seriously. 50 metre penalties are BS

WTF is going on Gill??

I think its just that there are so many rules now, the modern game is simply over umpired.

What happened 5 minutes ago at the ‘G was an absolute disgrace.

His legs could have been so easily broken

He didn't want to be at the MFC anymore.

My understanding was:

- We offered Howe a contract, which he declined

- We then arranged a trade with Gold Coast (Pick 7 I believe) and some very big money for Howe.

- Howe agreed to Gold Coast trade (in principle).

- Collingwood then came in and offered him less money than Melbourne and Gold Coast, with a wing-half forward role out to him by Buckley whilst in holidays in Bali - Howe accepted that.

Howe had wanted out of the club for a long time, but was held by his contract.  He honoured the contract but nothing would have kept him here.

Irrelevant. I am working in a similarly dysfunctional team environment atm. You work to keep your talent. Unless they want to go home to family, you work to keep them involved. You empower them. We let him walk "because he wanted to leave". Why did he want to leave?

How useful would Dunn and Howe be right now? What was the logic there?

The Roos legacy.

Is there a club that hasn't had great talent leave?

Hawks, Swans, Cats, Collingwood, Richmond... successful, powerful, well-run clubs have all had great players walk.

It's a fact of life.

If anything, Collingwood and Buckley are an example for us to follow.

Buckley was, to the media/public, a dead man walking. Couldn't coach, wasn't getting the best out of his players, was wasting talent.

Collingwood had massive talent on paper but had a slow, dated game plan.

Then they turned it around.

This is genuine carp, praha.

Absolute, unrealistic, carp.

Every club has players who leave for one reason or another.

Very happy for the lions.

They’ve had a horrid run and are now playing a great brand of footy with some very exciting players.

Clear example of how getting the right people in the football department trumps draft picks.

Wow lions 3 and 0 us 0 and 3.

Who the hell would have thought that at the start of season.  Sure as hell wasnt  me.

I bloody hope we can turn our season around sooner rather than later, otherwise it’s another wasted season which we have had more than our fair share.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
