POSTGAME: Rd 1 vs Port Adelaide

I know it's only the first game but geez we looked slow and unfit amd even disinterested.

No score kicked in the last either.

Great start fellas (bathwater drink drink).

Not having Preus in the side was a stroke of genius.

Jones to the twos

No way do we have that luxury.

We are playing some depth players who should not be getting a game because they are either too young and should be at Casey or they are simply not good enough.

Thank god we recruited May because I never want to see Frost and OMac in the same team ever again.

Any club watching that has the blue print to beat Melbourne, change direct, speed and spread.

Our small forwards dont apply any consistant pressure and you back yourself to sling shot of half back

Some real concerns

wow what a terrible team effort, hard to find any player i would say played well all day. total lack of running as port transitioned across the ground left player after player free for them to run the ball down the ground. Where was our game plan to address this. Where were our players? where was our defensive game? we were luckly to not lose by a lot more. can see we may be winless after the first 5 games at least on this form. how do we go into games like this with players with no form.I know its the start of the season but nothing in todays performance to suggests we will get anywhere near the 8 this year.

Above all, I was expecting a return of our agro and pressure, and I saw none of that. Losing is one thing, but looking like losers is another.

Bring the passion back in R2 boys, we're going to need it!

No one stood up. No one.

Uncontested possessions showed how lazy they all are.

Pathetic effort.

Agree, but I thought Salem was very good, and did about as much as he could. Wagner was decent, but that might just be in comparison.

We looked slow, were beaten in close by youngsters, killed on the spread, didn't have a plan B for Gawn. Today was a bad day. On the upside, we have May coming back in and Lever also at some point. It's hard to really say what we need. Salem was an absolute standout today and I thought Spargo tried hard with his constant pressure.

Lever is a universe away at this point KDAL and history shows that players coming back mid or late season rarely have much of an impact.  Not sure that we want to place so much hope on his return having an impact on where we finish this year.

We are going to be exposed by teams that are blessed with a few more tallish rangey speedy players this year with the 6/6/6 coming in.

Early days and happy to see how we are fairing about Rnd 6 but might take a few years of recruiting to re-adjust and get back to pushing into the top 4 on a regular basis.

I also think we'll take time to adjust to the new 6-6-6 rule.  Someone else mentioned it earlier too, but I think our gameplan is hurt the most by this.  We have probably needed to make the most changes because of it.

Couple that with injuries and underdone players and you get what we served up today.

Calling it now the 6-6-6 rule hurts us more than anyone if we don’t win the clearance we are cooked, every side will now play quick players we are no good on the outside, I never got the media beat up about it being suited to us, impossible to win every clearance, prove me wrong Melbourne but I’m tipping a long year unfortunately, goody will need to come up with something

I tend to agree, all those years drafting highly talented inside players, glad we didn't lose Hunt now! Very intrigued by 6-6-6, I like it as a spectacle but fear its bad news for us.

As l previously posted last week, Max will be targetted and defeated by superior forces. He was today. To not field Preuss to give him some heavy hitting backup was stupid in the extreme.

At this rate, we will waste our biggest asset. Every side from now on will employ the same tactics, unless we retaliate big time

Mid-list at best...

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
