Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think it's high time we look into the acult.

I've seen posters up for a reworking of the brilliant 'Pet Cemetery' with original tagline (&  disturbingly relevant to us) - 'they don't come back the same'.

A cult or occult or both?

I get your point and don't argue with any of it, however I asked for examples from 2019. Not the last 5 years.

Agreed Smokey I asked TGR and haven't seen any and I volunteered Joel Smith.

I was looking for from say Goody era not 2013 on. Agree we weren't on the money with Jack Trengove but I have no doubt at all ( my own opinion only) that Jack Viney declared himself available for us in late 2017 vs Port and it was not Club Officials who forced him. Yes it was like last week and I reckon Goody took his word (Prob too scared to argue )

Are we looking at Gawny R1 this year or when ?

Other than that I can't recall any others.

in 1998 we were the same going to Perth plenty injured and Robbo came up trumps and other DLanders and myself have referred to This game that got us going again to a Prelim.

a great challenge but hero's are born in these circs. TMac May need to kick 4/5!

Off the top of my head....

All speculation. You have no inside information on even what the specific injuries are, let alone how they presented at the time. Nor do you have any medical expertise yourself.

You're also guilty of confirmation bias (though we all are, it's the way our brain works), in that you're citing examples that support your (supposed) case, while ignoring all those that don't. i.e., you're ignoring all the times that players come off with injuries, are then patched up and sent back out - and are fine. Which is the majority of cases.

58er, one overt example is enough in my book.  Joel Smith's was pathetic, in a JLT when we had fit guys on the bench.  Sports science with loading minutes has gone mad.

Off the top of my head....

Steven May - Groin.  Came off.  Got assessed.  Went back on when the game was done and dusted.  Little wonder he will miss months, not weeks.  But I guess we can rest easy trying to blame the 'way he presented'.

Viney - AC courtesy of Stack.  Got assessed as a partial tear.  Came back on when game was well and truly over.

(Viney - foot surgery fiasco of 2017)

Melksham - Foot, but I am happy to give them a GOAJC due to the circumstances.

Usually, us on the outside can only see a hint of what is going on.  Might be lucky to find maybe 1 per year where the decision makers made a calculated risk.  We have had a series of dumb decisions this year in particular.

Thanks TGR sorry

I missed your post (quoted just know that U hadn't seen any examples)

Stephen  May came back after half time vs Cats at  Geelong not when the game was dusted ie late 3rd Quarter.

And (only my opinion ) Jack bullied the Coach and selectors and prob doctors and was allowed like last week to make his mind up how his body (foot) was.I agree this was a debacle and was surprised when it seemed to reoccur again last Sat so far with a good result. JV was great in the last 49 secs !!

I believe Joel is the only recent case but maybe Jack Trengove could have "slipped" through the net in the last 5 years.

Agree I think new medicos and a review of this at end no matter what eventuates in 2019 is necessary.

Aldo U believe the line coaches should also be nervous about 2020on!

Jack Trengove... how many instances does anyone need ?

Viney's plantar fascia.

TMc's toe.

Gawn being allowed to come back, too soon.... although this aided us,  with St-Pedo... and TMc to the forwardline, via being 2nd ruck.

For god's sake.

Some of you should spend a week on a cancer ward. The best we can say about medical science and the identification and management of injuries and pathologies is that it's stretching it to even call it a science - informed guesswork would be closer to the mark, though even the "informed" bit gets lost in many cases.

I have a heart condition. The doctor who told me 10 years ago that I needed an operation wasn't wrong or incompetent. He was basing his opinion on the information he had in front of him, in comparison to similar cases and outcomes. I still haven't had the op.

I went across to Perth and saw that game with the family. It was sensational.

I gave us no hope whatsoever, with the injury ravaged team we had, just like tomorrow. Can lightning strike twice?

My son and I were asked to help with the banner and we were more than happy to oblige.

A very memorable day indeed.

Did you tell him you were a Dees fan? That is not good for the ticker.

Seriously though, I hope you are well and continue to be so for many years to come well into your old age and enjoy seeing a few more Dees flags, though one would be nice for starters.

Your speculation in the your first paragraph is totally and utterly incorrect.

Typical pulpit response that attempts to get an 'A' for grammar and attempted overt common-sense, but actually gets an 'F' for accuracy.  Rather than assume, it aint that difficult to do 5 minutes of relative research around here.

You obviously think the current medical/training services team will continue in 2020?  You remind me of the Liberals with climate change.

In relation to our team, I see parallels with Jordan Lewis, who had a great history of leadership, insight, experience, respect, and bravery, but when the basics are needed (earning your spot, keeping your feet, and being disciplined) he falls short.

ANB, Salem and Smith all in doubt for next week as per ABC radio

Salem has had a number of concussion episodes.  Desperately hope this one isn't serious.

All should still be available.

Eagles player took out Salem going for a mark. Anb was an accidental contact. Smith got body slammed and expect Eagles player to be either fined or a 1- match penalty.

But as per the North player last week. Durdin I think it was. Got suspended for a perfectly legal shepherd because his opponent was concussed.

So... the logic (haha) would be suspension for the Eagles players as per the new rule introduced this year.

Accidental head knocks which lead to concussion get you suspended

Who knows. There is always a chance that when a player gets concussion they never play again.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
