Lots of love in the room from the boys for Goody. Great news.

Genuine joy (love) from the playing group.  You can't fabricate that!  Great work Dees.

Thank GOD! ..... At the Family day l said to him kindly that if you love the club you have to sign with the us very very soon.  Please!

Goody replied with a knowing smile,  Do you love the club ? and winked, We shook hands and walked off knowing all was ok.

Love the guy and know we are in the best of hands.

Great news!

Now we need to sign up Josh Mahoney.  Don't know when his contract expires but would guess in the next year or two.  He is a critical part of the team.  An excellent media performer who is solid, stable and engenders confidence.

Let's give thanks to Paul Roos and Peter Jackson for their fantastic work, and their foresight in giving us the coaching recruit of the decade. Making Melbourne great again! Just like a good relationship, there is a lot of love and stability at Melbourne. Yes, extend Josh Mahoney's contract as well to show the faith.

Good to have this done before the start of the season.

Hah... I never thought it but its a relief...   maybe the big smile I got from that video...  or from the signing. ?    but the vision of the close-knit camaraderie is heart warming.

If they're as tight a group as we hope and think they are, they'll come out and play for Gawny's 100th followed by Jack's 100th in rounds 1 & 2..................and play for Goody in every game he is coach.

Felt oddly weird seeing Pert in demons colours

Well he started in Red and Blue well Maroon close enough.

By 2022 he will either be the chosen one who lead us out of the half century  failure era or sacked like 95% of coaches.

Interesting times ahead.

Well deserved Goody a great day for MFC

Four years for much success and culture to improve us further.

The necessary tonic to lift us into a dangerous unit on Sat. to open our 2019 campaign with a win.

Big day looms very soon in also with  the time when we break our Membership record and then onto 50,000 plus members first time in our history.

The mini giant is awakening! Shaken and stirred!!

One of my favourite players, back in those days. Perty.

The only question I have is if Ron Burgundy loves Simon Goodwin?

So Pert thinks he’s the right man for the job does he?! Is he sure?!

Nice one Goody and Dees.

The video of the players embracing Goody after the announcement is something i have not seen for a very long time between a player and coach. By looking at that the players have embraced and enjoyed working under him. Theres a special connection in there that i dont think many clubs have.

Enjoying this journey Goody is taking us on.

Would love to know what the brief conversation was that he had with Harmes. Clearly a strong bond between the two.

Goodwin has a very smart manager, getting him a three year contract before we have played a game this year, and coming directly off our worst loss from 2018.  Very clever.  We couldn't have waited until round 10 to see if he was worth continuing with?

We play finals for the first time in a decade and you want to put a coach's worth down to a single game?

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
