I've moved on from yesterday!  We didn't go all the way but we had some very fine performances over the three weks.

Interested in who people think was our Mr September (across all three games).

My votes are (in Brownlow style):

  • 3   J. Viney
  • 2   N Jetta
  • 1  J Harmes

They were the most consistent - each had an exceptional game in at least one of the earlier finals and were the most likely to drag us out of the quagmire yesterday.  (Apologies to Weideman and T Mcdonald).

James Harmes for me.  Not only was he able to curb some of the best players in the game, but he also found his own footy and was damaging when going the other way.  He has turned into a very important part of our side and his improvement has been a joy to watch.

Jack Viney a very close second.

Oliver by a mile. 3 excellent games from the kid who was great from day 1 of the finals despite close atention. Agressive and gave as good as he got . Hugely advanced his reputation and no stage fright for one so young. Yesterday he was our best.

My main criticism of Viney, gets it tries to break every tackle under the sun... Loses it and..

Harmes for me. Teams are going to focus on him a lot more next year. So hopefully he can deal with it.

Viney second.

Neville the Jetta 3rd

Joint for Harmes & Viney for me, everyone lowered their colours in the West Coast game.

I would have said TMac before the game but he was a strong contender for WOG yesterday.

Definitely Viney for me though.

Pretty harsh on Tmac. Spent most of the prelim in the backline plugging holes and rucking.

I’d argue Mr September is a player that rises above their season form.

Viney and Oliver both incredible, but no more so than typical. Harmes and Brayshaw emerged in season. Trac is the player we all hope for.

1. Hibberd. Found the desperation.

2. Weid. The big surprise.

3. TMAC. First to stand tall.

On reflection and based only on the first two finals it was probably Weideman.

As No 10 says above my view of a Mr September is someone who goes to that next level.

I was hoping it would be Petracca who while having an okay first few finals didn't have that stellar lift in form.

Sidebottom at Collingwood and Martin last year are perfect examples of the elusive Mr September

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
