With the pick we've got for Kent, can we package those together for Carlton's first pick?  Or will Carlton need to hand over their second rounder as well?

Someone get SOS on the phone.

Who is our best used car salesman online ATM?

Now we have Preuss we could trade Max to GW$ for $cully.

???

Welcome big guy.

Im guessing we call him Pruessy?? Does he have a nickname?

Face to face I'd suggest we call him Mr Preuss ?

I wonder if Preuss on board we'll see more of Maxy up forward in the same vein as Mason Cox?

I truly believe Pruess is more then capable holding down main rucking role for longer periods if it mean Maxy could stay up forward for longer periods of the time and snag a few goals here and there.

Good luck Pruess looking forward to seeing what you can produce in tandem with Gawn.

Similar attributes to Gawny so if we can get him on the program that Gawn’s on he will be a beast !

Not saying he can’t kick goals or mark but we really need to work on those attributes so he can be more than just “Gawns back up”. He could become a dangerous tall up forward with TMac & Weids while being a very handy option to Max Gawn in the ruck when Gawn has a rest or plays up back/forward.

If he followed a similar trajectory to Mason Cox when playing forward we will be unstoppable next year.

Particularly now that you have to start someone in the square.

GREAT trade for a quality ruckman. Now he just needs to train with Maxy over summer and get super fit!

Yeah, fits perfect. A hat tip to Mark Jamar and his work with Gawny, and also "Preuss or Preuß is a German surname derived from Preussen, the German word for Prussia"

Max Gawn's busted toenails on his Instagram are a good enough reason to trade for a big ruck. Liking this.

Not convinced he and Gawn will play together, especially against the best sides. But the ability to not over do Max through the season is vital. Got to keep your best players fit and healthy through the season, they are the ones that matter come crunch time.

Perhaps the biggest get.

I spent a good part of the year worrying about Max going down.

Every time I saw him in a heap on the ground, I would look to see if he got up without a limp or injury.

We were seriously exposed without a backup ruckman particularly at finals time.

Just hope that Preuss has what it takes.

I actually think Maxy could go the other way and move more towards the backline. Not as a 1 on 1 defender but similar to what he did this year and really play as lose man filling holes. If BP (my nickname contender) can hold his own as a forward then switching them depending on the game situation could work very well - it's something that's not been seen at AFL level either.

All for this. The Demons looked awesome when the Germans ruled: Schwartz and Neitz. We now have Weidemann and Preuss.

Watch us fly.

Plus Wagner and Fritsch. You could possibly throw in vandenBerg, too, although perhaps that's Dutch.

SHH. Fritsch is our secret weapon. And, please, VDB is Dutch. Call a Dutchman German at your own peril. I made the mistake when I was 15 and got a lecture about the bombing of Rotterdam. I had to point out to the demented Dutchman that I was born in 1950 and had nothing to do with it.

Maybe North see Daw as being Goldy's successor (the next NicNat)?

It is a point of interest but I'd reckon, given his young age he has not developed into a 'ruckman' just yet and this is supported by his rugby background, as well. It often takes a tall to become a ruck after several years - just look at Max, and Tangles, and Keenan, and Stynes, and O'Dwyer, and many others, as examples of this longer and bumpier road to ruck skills. North, as well, are not great in recent years at developing players to their short-term advantage, either; it was not a good place for him to start his transition to Aussie Rules, I guess. Not everyone is going to be an early, fully skilled Polly Farmer, NicNat, Gary Dempsey, et al.  For me, the point is that he has potential in buckets to get fully match fit, developed, or becoming a KPD, KPF and ruckman. To assist Max to enjoy a long, injury-free career, he'll be just fine for the mighty Dees!

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
