One week at a time, that's all we can do now. A win tonight and we continue to march towards finals. A loss and we will have to beat the good sides they are all saying we can't.

Hogan BOG.

Love the optimism.

Go Dees!!!!

5 goal win

Adelaide have a bit of payback in mind. They'll come out hard. We just need to be in front when the final siren goes.... oh wait

Working tonight which will require some strategically placed bathroom breaks for the occasional score check.

Salem as smokey for BOG

I the wait before the game, gotta find something to do to keep the anxiety/excitement at bay... go dees!

I have no confidence at all. Scheduled a "date" tonight instead so I don't have the disappointment of watching another ''crunch match" loss. Did the same thing last Saturday night.

Hopefully when I check the scores I am pleasantly surprised.

hogan needs to lift. for a big guy he falls to ground far too easily and stages for frees. tmac is twice the player and can kick much straighter.

dees could win but i doubt it. crows by 42

good luck mate. maybe you will at least score tonight ;)

Logic says that we should comfortably account for a team we beat by 91 points only two months ago, but logic and reality live worlds apart for the Melbourne Football Club and its long suffering supporters.  I still haven't read last weekend's post match thread and I don't intend to, but I desperately hope that I will be inclined to read today's.  Just get it done Dees ........... one point will do!  Surely that's not too much to ask in return for my patience and loyalty.

The poor bugger is double teamed when in the forward line however when opposition teams go forward their forwards are one on one!

Goody needs to clear our forward line right out. One on ones against Hoges, TMac and Jeffy and/or Tracs and Clarry occasionally would be a nightmare for any defence. We just have to maximise the skills that those guys have. The problem is, we don't. Most of the time our forward 50 looks like an under 10's game.

I doubt that line will have any bearing on the result DF.

i was talking to someone at the club on Monday and they said being a Dees supporter is character building.

My reply was I have all the character I can handle just bloody win.

After that it is hard to see us winning since our last meeting they have a number of there players back from injury and we have ours out.

rule 101..There is NO logic in football

In breaking news the AFL Spuds Association have given the Melbourne Football Club an award for their services to re-igniting the careers of many of their members. The Association President and previous Spud of the Year recipient Tex Walker says the award is well deserved and is looking forward to being the benefit of a similar service tonight.

Kent Kingsley is surely a life member of this association.

The Crows are aware we dont handle pressure, and (we) are starting to become desperate. They also owe us one for the hiding we gave them earlier in the season. If the game is close in the last qtr, i can see the MFC panic setting in again.

An Adelaide win keeps them in with a chance of playing finals, and almost puts us out, considering our run home.

I have no confidence that we can win tonight.

Crows by several goals.

Draw.

Dees by 38 goals (points...lol) V.confident!

T Mac 7 goals... ?

Clarry 40+ handballs (poss...?)

Vandenberg too play... ?

Gawn... Unstoppable... ?

This game will be tough. A vastly different team to the one we played earlier in the year.

Our midfield will need to look after our defence for 120 minutes, otherwise, Walker, Lynch, Jenkins and possibly Betts will get a hold of our back line.

Win, lose or draw, I'll continue to back em' in but this game is pretty close to being do or die.

Let's go Dees!

Sorry Demonlanders, I cannot see us winning tonight.

I don't think we will get ourselves up to play 4 quarter football to beat Adelaide at home.

Crows seem to be building with all their good players back, will have the crowd and no doubt the umpires behind them.

We will need our biggest effort all year to beat them tonight.

Crows by 14 points

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
