Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Frost dumped for this week (and possibly forever IMO)

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-04-23/big-demon-defender-out-of-tigers-clash

If you are hoping Frost is gone for good you are mad. I'd prefer him to Lever for a start

Like the ins. Would have preferred Fritsch over Melksham.

Melk was a slow starter last year for the first 6 rounds. The footy dept kept the faith in him and he repaid them in spades. I suspect we may be seeing something similar....

I wouldn’t call it great wisdom, I’m just blessed with common sense..

I’ll try to keep it short and easy to understand as I didn’t think it warranted any further explanation.

Posters are referencing Pederson’s good game on the weekend as a reason he should have been selected for Tuesday’s game. Do you see the issue here?

I think this is somewhat of a myth and continued to grow over the preseason.

He was okay in the 2nd half of the season, certainly not spectacular. He has kicked 0.7 this season and burnt numerous teammates inside 50 (he often did this last season but kicked goals).

I would say Fritsch having a rest and might be back for Essendon off a short break.

I worry about losing leg speed but I suppose Hunt and Stretch in balance that out a bit.

Not confident at all.

Surprised with Fritsch before Melk also.  Room for improvement, especially with his defensive work inside 50 but i still had Fritsch  ahead of Melk last week.

I'm guessing managed for the Bombres or maybe the week after vs the Saints?

I'm interested to see how this plays out tomorrow night.

We all know that the Tigers have an excellent defence, and while we've been able to generate a bucket load of inside 50s, we've blazed away more often than not.  With Weideman coming in, does this give us the extra, leading target we've been craving?  At the very least the Weid can provide a contest and bring the ball to ground, even in a two on one situation.  Our mosquito fleet will need to be buzzing for 120 minutes to ensure that they don't get too many easy rebounds off half back.

At the other end we all know how poorly our defence has functioned as a unit in the first month of the season, and I like that we've dropped Frost to accommodate the fact that the Tigers play pretty small up forward.  Will that allow us to play Oscar on Riewoldt which frees up Lever to play the second man up?  Will we be able to release someone like Hibberd into the rebounding role he plays so well?  Can Jetta find some form and play a lock down role on one of their small forwards like Castagna or Butler?

I'm looking forward to how we respond tomorrow night and I think, on paper at least, we match up quite well against the Tigers.  We all know that doesn't get us very far and we'll need every player to give 100% to their role in the side tomorrow night.

Go Dees!

Reiwoldt kicked 6 last year in this game. Oscar didn't play. Lets hope that Oscar has a night out

Really frustrating that Fritsch has been dropped. Harmes did sweet FA last week and was a liability. Fritsch was clean and was decent one on one.

That fact he had to play a ruck role as well may have gone against him but yes in general play he was ordinary Dee.  He has a reprieve this week and lets hope we see him in a non-rucking role this time around.  Would love to see him run through a few tomorrow night and kick a few goals.  Would also love to see him or anyone except Jones/Clarry covering Dusty/Cotchin.

First 2 matches were reasonably good but has dropped away since the North encounter.

This is interesting as I could see Weideman coming in to be that tall target while Hogan is released up the ground to hopefully run amok. The problem with that theory is that the Weid is left in the forward line with Rance - cant see that working too well although I know Gawn will spend time in the forward line at times. It says to me that Hogan will have to spend more time up forward or Weid will play an unusual role.

Like all your comments bar this one

dont think he will be the one, he might in 12 months. Still I thought much the same about OMac but from middle last year he has pretty well advanced his output every match,  but we lost games while he gained experience. But all I could go on a footy field was clumsily run around getting in every ones way. Not much skill at all!

GoDees and UHSOB magoos!

Gee, Tigers fans aren't confident on Bigfooty.

Between calls of "Campaigners" and "Tanking" (Jones being called a "balled campaigner" was my favourite), they're mostly calling a heavy loss. Big change from early in the week.

Big test for the Tigers. Prestia also looks to be a late change for them.

I suspect we'll shorten in close to $2 ahead of the game tomorrow.

I would almost accept the inevitable loss to Essendon the following week if it meant we won tomorrow night.

As a team, MFC need a big scalp to regain some confidence. We wont get a bigger stage to engage in brand repair.

Go dees.

Was he? This is news to me and revisionism at its finest.

Which games do you remember him playing and being a significant factor?

He was listed in our best players 3 times for the whole season (this included the final 2 games). He played 19 games (the equal 9th most) and finished 16th in our best and fairest which is skewed towards players who play more games.

21 goals in 12 games does sound good, and when you extend it to a whole season 40 goals would be impressive.

And yes, I watch most games 2-3 times.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
