If I see Harmes rucking tomorrow night and not Weids I'll spew up! (Plough et al)

When Griggs goes into the ruck - depending on the scoreboard I don’t mind Harmes as an option and send Big Maxy forward - geez that would upset their defensive structures no end.

IMHO last weeks one positive is plan B needs options both in front or behind the ball.

Good changes. Stretch and Hunt will provide some much needed outside run and it'll be be great to see Weideman back in the side.

Absolutely kicking myself that I'll be missing this one! First Demon game at the G I'll be missing since early 2016.

Question regarding seating. Just realised my provisional MCC membership won’t get me into this category one game and all GA tickets are sold out online.

Will tickets be available to purchase at the gate if I go early enough? Say around 5:15pm?

MCG posted on Facebook tickets may not be able to be purchased at the gates, but unsure if they are doing that so people panic and pay a premium for more expensive tickets online.

Cheers!

Juzz going for the gate is an option but a tad risky.  Up to you though.

But if you like you could call the club's membership line tomorrow and see if you can get a Demon Army token membership.  Only $45 or thereabouts and it will gain you entry into Bay M3 behind the goals, punt road end, provided you arrive before 7.  And yes I realise this is probably not your preferred or usual seating / setting but hey you get a seat and only $45 plus you are helping a good cause.  Not sure if you would need a standard membership also to get through the gate though?  Can always grab a 3 game cheapy on top if needed I guess.

You can sit anywhere you like in bay M3 also if sitting directly behind the army isn't your thing.  Make sure they put your name on the list so Sophie & Co. have you on the D.A. membership role to tick you off when entering M3 though.

There might be other options also that others will point you towards that might be more up your alley.

Good luck anyway and hope you make the big show!

Well there are always exceptions Davey like Grigg v Harmes I guess.  I still think you don't bother.  Just use your extra mid fielder that you would have used in the ruck as a plus one around the pill to get more of it at the drop or on the outside.  I am just hoping he isn't rucking against a genuine ruckman like last week.  Anything else will be a huge improvement IMO!

Have you watched him play in these games? I didn't see the North game but I don't see how you can say he has been inconsistent in the other games. He has a phenomenal work rate and his ability to compete in outnumbered situations is first class. He does fade in and out within matches. His worst games would be a big improvement on anything Weideman has delivered aside from his first game as he can actually move and is a factor with the ball on the deck.

A promotion on the back of a poor VFL outing seems to be the norm for Weideman, so I'm not surprised.

As always, despite not agreeing with his inclusion, I am hopeful he can prove me wrong.

Curnow was gifted games early last year without warrant and has played 3 times the games Weideman has played to this point. It really has only started to come to together for him in his last 8-10 games. I suspect most of that is due to continuity of senior games afforded to him. Prior to this year he had not kick more than 2 in a game. He has been great in one game this year and up and down in others including not kicking a goal the last two. He has a great engine but shows no defensive intent from what I have seen. You would see similar inconsistent output I think if we had stuck with Weid without fail since the start of last year. I am not saying that they will end up as good as one another but I assume you get my drift. I dont expect Weid to cut loose tomorrow night as I don't expect that of a 10 game forward who will likely cop Rance. I expect he will off us a long ball target (missing last week), get to plenty of contests, bring the ball to ground if he doesn't clunk a few and offer Gawny a better chop out than Harmes recent weeks. Hell he might even get on the end of some but at worst it will accelerate his development at least until we wait the return of T-Mac in coming weeks.

You really don’t watch too closely do you.

We all want to win.

You do realise that Weideman played in our best win last year ?

Yes. I'm looking at this week. For these 4 premiership points, I reckon Pedo is the safer play. Just personal opinion.

No, you didn't realise until I told you.  Don't pretend you did.

PS  Pedersen is not the safer play.

The game he had five tackles and everyone tried to act like he contributed?

You can't read minds.

PS. I'll say it again. Pedo gives us the better chance for the win. I'm not asking you to agree.

I never suggested he had any influence in the win.  I simply shared with you that he played in our best win of the season.  You weren't aware of that even though you now make out you knew, hence the tackle comment.  I'm happy to educate you.

Be thankful.

Jeezus. You are the worst thing that's happened to this site in the last 2 years. I don't have to be a mind reader to know that.

Are you drunk? How is anyone on this site gonna forget that win? As far as my memory goes with Sam he kicked 2 in his first game, and had about 5 tackles in the Crows game, one particularly memorable one up on the wing that led to a free, or possibly an easy possession for another demon (Hunt maybe?) that endeared him to fans on here. I remember in every other game so far in his career he's been almost unnoticeable. And in the two above, he barely made in impact.

I am completely aware he played in it. What I don't have to do is explain all 22 who played in one win that came almost a year ago. ESPECIALLY players who made no impact on that contest. Or any contest he's played in for the seniors since. You want me to spout a whole lot of other irrelevant crap about Hunt headbutting Jacobs' shoulder and knocking himself out to prove I remember the game well?

I don't have to explain to you who I remember playing in what game. You are as wrong as you are condescending. Do me a favour. Don't quote me again. Ever.

PS, just took a look. Turns out even my guess on his tackle count was correct.

Here's another reminder of a KP player who DID make a difference that day. Don't go acting like you remember he played when clearly you don't. Who was our major goalkicker that day?

Be thankful.

Sadly, it looks like Sam is not going to be the star his grandfather Murray was. He has been on the scene for a while now but has failed to make any impact. It would be lovely to be proved wrong on this one though. Good luck Sam. Make me eat my words and boot 5!

Sam has just started his third season and is still just 20 years old.

I don't know if he will boot 5 tomorrow night but hes gonna be a  bloody good player soon enough.

Stick fat,. Bobby.

Yeah. It's a slow, slow burn isn't it. After seeing guys like Tom Lynch take as long as they have, I'm willing to stick it out a bit longer.

This weekend though, against what was a pretty darn good KP defence from last year, he's really picked the wrong time to wander back into the 22.

Gotta give him a couple of weeks though. Otherwise, you just won't know.

Pretty sure he was selected Dappa! The timing couldn't be worse IMO.  Couldn't wait 12 days for the Saints, Sons and Blues block?

I have real concerns about this club right now.   Selection,  coaching,  leadership,  strategy, form.  Something seems amiss,  I am less comfortable with the club than I was last year.

I sincerely hope we win the next three games and I can look back on myself and laugh.

Your not alone SJ.

Looking for a real statement tonite.

Hope the boys honour the legacy and tradition of this club in a manner befitting tomorrow.

This game is a chance of redemption and we need to play like its our last.

I feel its a must win on many levels.

Dont understand why Im optimistic. ......perhaps because we are not favorites.

Enjoy the game.

Me too. Can't put my finger on it, but myconcerns centre on our football department not our administration, who i think are performing better than at anytime in at least the last 20 years.

There seems to be some problems with communication.

I’m personally happy with the changes although Pederson offers more flexibility IMO. I think the match committee have made a call that they want to give games to Weids to get him experience with Hogan, he’s had mostly good form in the VFL so it’s not unwarranted. Would be nice to see him make an impact.

Hunt should’ve been back last week for me but it’s understandable the club wanted him to string two performances together.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
