I planned on going to this game at start of the season but after that performance on the weekend I can’t bring myself to travel the 3 hour round trip to go to this game anymore, I’m sure I’m not the only 1

Yeah I felt like you too but fork it, I'm doing the 7hr round trip.
Could be the last time I do it as its a long drive home after a belting.
And I've seen my share.

Diminished numbers of dees fans is exactly what was going through my head during the pantsing on Sunday. It's always nice to see big dees numbers at the spectacle games. It's hard enough to drag the fickle fans along as is let alone after what we dished up. Oh well, makes for slightly shorter queues at the bar...

I must admit that I've changed my mind about going after attending last weeks poo we dished up. I'm working anyway but was going to try and swap out of my shift and go. Now I'm just going to save myself the hassle of trying to swap and record it on tv.

If people aren’t turning up to this game because of 1 bad performance, then it’s time to follow a different sport.

I am pumped for this game and can’t wait to be there, it is going to be massive.

The players would have been stung by the weekends performance and I have no doubt they will take it right up to the Tigers.

Dees by 7 pts.

Be there!!!!!!!

I will be flying down from Brisbane for the game. The weather forecast promises a dry ground so I expect our boys to come back hard. If I thought negatively of the Dees after a bad performance the week before, I would have dropped off in the early 70’s.

We either support the team or not. Man up and don’t be fence sitters or fair weather fans.

If I had the option of going to the game I’d go in a heartbeat. You Melbournians are a bunch of whinging spoilt brats, this game isn’t about you or your feelings or how hard you think you’re done by because we were outplayed last weekend. By all means stay at home and sip your turmeric chai activated almond milk latte while eating gluten-free lentil pasta with charcoal enriched kale crumbed organic tofu. It’s an honour the team gets to play Anzac Eve, go and support them. Case closed.

PJ would have been filthy with the weekend's thrashing. Had we won against the Hawks, and won well, we could have drawn 90,000 on Tuesday night and been hyped up as the biggest clash of the year to date.

Now the narrative is about our response to the shellacking, rather than a block-buster clash between two teams near the top of the ladder, which would have drawn thousands more neutral supporters through the gates.

The MCC is predicting 82,000, but I suspect it'll be closer to 75,000.

For comparison's sake, the MCC expect 90,000 for the Collingwood-Essendon match.

A real missed opportunity, both for additional revenue and the chance to play in the biggest game of the season outside finals.

A real missed opportunity - Should we not wait till after the game till we make a comment like that.

I would of thought at this stage its - a potential missed opportunity. Its our home game this year so the only club we would be hurting by not turning up is our own - the MFC.

Maybe/maybe not. I read that channel 7 is only putting this on 7mate and their HD channel as my kitchen rules is coming to a close and they are showing that on their main channel

They’ll switch on the HD signal. The same happened last year. As per the broadcast agreement all games have to be broadcast in HD. The AFL only agreed to the change if channel 7 switched on the HD signal on 7mate.

Damn, I wish I could justify paying the fees to subscribe to 7mate.

Oh, wait a second, it's free.

Sponsors must really love us.

Our one and only prime time blockbuster and we are shunted off to the "Channel of the Lost".

Sure the avid footy fan might find it but the theatre goers who sponsors love will be elsewhere.

Then again given last Sunday, it might be better if we stay under the radar for a while.

What proportion of TVs in use don't have access to 7Mate? I would have thought very few, if any. The bigger problem - and this goes for all games on any night - is what it is up against across all TV networks. I accept that there is a certain inertia among viewers who seem incapable of tearing themselves away from the "main channels", but as long as 7 promotes on its main channel that the football is on 7Mate (and whether they will do that remains to be seen), I can't see people not knowing that it's on if they want to watch it.

For those who have a choice and are contemplating not going to the game on ANZAC Eve, how would you feel if we win and you are not there to see it? From a purely emotional perspective, I've always found the unexpected victories to be the most satisfying.

As someone who worked in TV ? for 32 years, you would be amazed at the amount of people who still only think there are 5 Free to Air Stations on the dial.

Crazy i know. But true.

By being on 7mate a number of people will not switch the game on

My suspicion is that those people actually only think there are three (ie, no ABC or SBS).

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
