I've got no idea about Balic. Where is he playing? Whose role in the senior side would it compare to?

Believe it or not, the Casey FM van is bogged at the Coburg ground. That's why I'm listening to Bob Dylan instead of a call of the game at the moment.

Sounds like a great day for Weideman and Balic. Two players who are a different type to who we have in the 1sts ar the moment and could develop into handy AFL players. They would add a lot to our team if they keep developing.

Its way too soon for Weide, but this is exactly what the doctor ordered to get some of those monkeys off his back.

Now lets see him grow his game from here.

Just remember, Balic was rated a top 10 prospect in his draft year if it wasn't for his wrist injury..

A huge talent indeed! Could be a surprise wildcard if given the opportunity..

Brayshaw Johnstone  Lockhart Maynard Pedersen  Stretch kicked single goals..  Guess the Casey Twitter ran out of characters.

Balic took a great mmark but a lot of easy goals. Promising but not yet.

You've still got to kick them.

Really hard to judge the effort today as the Demons were on another level by comparison to Coburg.

To me Coburg lacked key defenders and a few talls. It is for this reason that I marked the Weid down from a goal kicking aspect. He did however lays some good tackles and was constantly involved in the game. If he can do it again next week against Werribee (another unaligned club unfortunately) then he will be knocking on the door.

Loved Spargo and the group that I call the over 50's (because of their numbers) were not disgraced... Balic, Petty and Baker.

I saw Gus in tight a few times but cannot say I really noticed his game. JKH and Pederson put on some one quarter clinics (Pedersen in the second and JKH in the third) and were at least serviceable in the others.

All in all a very pleasant day at Coburg Oval ... and a very nice salad roll for $6.

I don't think anyone said he wasn't a good VFL level player...but he's not an AFL level forward.

I don't think they were bogged... rather the truck went down the back of the mound on the wing :)

yep and did some good stuff

seems to have a bit of nip in him.

Hunt did not set the world alight from my observation.

Had a few chances to run and carry and went the chip kick ... would like to just see him run anyway... even if caught today we would have still won by a  lot.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
