Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Gawn Speaks Out on THAT Miss

Agree without Gawny we would have been more than a goal behind. Others could also have missed.

However, Gawny is an awkward kick at the best of times and seems to have a poor ball drop. Sure he is a tall and awkward guy but not sure you can use this as an excuse. Even in general field play his kicking is up and under.  Would be good to see improvement in this part of his game.

Chris Scott made the comment last night that the missed goal should not diminish the excellent play of Cam centering the ball and Max taking such a great, contested mark.  He made the same comment about Menzel's great mark just before he missed his even simpler shot on goal.  Said we too often forget about the great things the players do in the heat of the not so great moments.

(Gotta admit, Chris Scott has some good things to say.  His comments about the cricket debacle were also well put...)

No problems with Gawn ... (would have loved if he had kicked it)

As so many have said his game , along with that of Oliver and Petracca were the highlights of a gut wrenching loss.

Agreed, definitely the highlights. So it seems like a cruel irony that all three missed goals they probably would kick most times in the last quarter.

Just had a mate message me this on stalk book.

“I threw the tv remote. His missed goal cost me a lot of money in my multis.

One was a $5 nine leg multi and the other was a $5 thirteen leg multi. To lose them both by that shank was disappointing.

To have that many legs in play you can guess how much was on the line. ??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️“

Classic.

By far the best coach to listen to. Nathan Buckley and Clarkson are also interesting, but Chris Scott is the best. All three are intelligent, forthright, seemingly honest and avoid cliches. Forget the rest if you're looking for valuable insights.

I'd be interested to know how many goals Max would kick from 30 metres out at training, because he has always been a poor kick for goal from that distance.

He seems better from longer ranges when he kicks through the ball properly, rather than just trying to poke it through.

This feels like the sort of thing that the assistant coaches should be able to get improvement in without too much work.

He should’ve kicked it from 45 metres out.

Cost me a bit too. On top of a similar margin and resulting punting loss with the women's (backed them to make the gf).

Gender equity at the dees - they disappoint in equal measure.

What did he say about the cricket? (sorry bit off topic).

Talked about how a team's culture can erode slowly, a bit at a time, without anyone realising, until the point where our team found itself over the past few days.  Kinda like the frog on the slowly heating pan of water.  Doesn't realise it's getting hot until it's too late.

He missed a similar one against Hawthorn in 2016. Luckily the game was well won by then.

I remember when that happened and with several other similar misses thinking this may come back to get him when he’s shooting for a lead. Was bound to happen I guess

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
