No he wouldn’t be that stupid. Disagreements can be sorted out. This one cuts a lot deeper

as i said when this all started

Goodwin has put both his balls on the line, if this backfires badly, his coaching career is over.

I will back him in.

I am just happy Jack didn’t go to Jeelong.

At Port it’s out of mind out of sight...

Part of me can't help but wonder whether you're on to something here. But we probably won't find out until the 30-year rule is up. Or until one of them writes a book.

Could well be a book out of this if Jack plays finals over there...

That Watts for Tippet trade that everyone was lambasting earlier in the week is starting to look reasonable

I would rather nothing than Tippet. I mean that. I'd rather have an empty slot on our list.

On the principle that if your phone is completely broken, at least you know so wont try to use it or assume you're not missing calls. But if your phone works sometimes, then you can go for weeks or months not realising you're missing half the calls people try to make to you, and you'll stick with the phone to your serious disadvantage.

Maybe that's the situation with Watts, too. A half-working phone for years and it was only after it got damaged one extra time (the mid-season injury) and worked even less, that the club passed a threshold of accepting that the 'phone' needs to be replaced.

I for one will hate seeing Watts in another club's colours, and I am also a bit fatigued from the massive turnaround of the list. I would have liked some stability and some retention of players for full careers. But if I'm honest I kind of have to blame Watts for the situation.

Jack flies O.S on Wednesday so the announcement will be made early in the week. Not reported that he visited Sydney late in the week as he snuck up north and back under the radar. One of his magers who looks after his shorts business is planning to liaise with hime from Adelaide. Port will be his nominated destination and he finally has his head around moving. The only way that wont happen is if MFC reneg on the deal which I doubt even though he is 2nd to Gary Ablett for delivery into the forward line.

Maybe he's doing a preseason in Syria.

Jack was great in that clip with the young supporter.  He knows why he's being moved on, but gave a cheeky dig at what he's good at.

He loves the Dees, but knows he has no choice.  You can't stay if the coach doesn't want you.

For all his frustrating traits as a player it's impossible not to love the person.  When his career is over he'll be at the G supporting the Dees.

Nice post Pro.

I'm not convinced he does although he'd know what he's been told.

Agree with the rest though. Nicely put.

I got the impression that everything is still up in the air, which is amazing considering this has gone on for 10 days.

We have no offer from any club as to Jack’s worth yet.

Anything over 30 is junk in my view and if that is the offer i hope Jack doesn’t go..

it’s a Cold War Scenario so far

everyone is waiting....

And that stinks. Regardless of why this has occured, Jack has far more value than chips and a pollywaffle and i expect this to be the case.

I will be filthy if JW is playing at Port and we are still paying his wage with some rubbish draft picks that Port tossed in.

I am still angry about the Earl Spalding deal, we got bugger all out of that, whilst Carlton won the ‘95 flag easily with The Earl in the side.

I know you don’t care BB, but we differ on that

Assuming jack does leave, I'd like to see us give port pick 26 too for their pick 14. Wonder if this is a possibility

Shame Port don't have Pick 14 or any 1st Round Pick this year for that matter.

That video of Watts further shows why he needs to go.

That is not the type of attitude we want at the club. Seems to be making it all about him, which is disappointing.

I don't understand why so many on here are getting upset that he is leaving? He mentioned that the MFC don't want good kicking skills.... he averaged 8 kicks a game last year, I think we will get by.....

I think we may have viewed the clip differently IDIG. I didn't have a problem with the little dig and liked his comment on barracking for the club. The bloke has real personality which is one of the reasons why so many of us will be sad to see him go.

And to be fair, it is all about him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
