Poor old Dieter.

Still bowling down the leg side and wasting the new ball.

It certainly became a major weakness when I lost my 'bowling' fitness. A keeper named Trevor used to scream with rage as he flew in vain towards leg slip. Served him right. In a previous life a girl I fancied fancied him.

I'm hoping Goodwin reflects upon his own imperfections  and can see that using JW as a scapegoat for his own failures is self defeating.

Then again, Coach G started picking on him preseason before any imperfections could become apparent.

Do you ever reflect on your imperfections? I know I do. The reflection disappears in an instant...

That's great, mate.

I'm wanting you to identify the traits you see to make the call.

Surely you've the intellect ?

And make sure you quote comments and link them with your observations.

I'm probably out of line - apologies.

I enjoy your posts more than any other poster - they're always interesting. And insightful.

You seem to lack empathy though - seems to be a conscious decision. You strike me as a very clinical bloke, and in my opinion the beauty in sport is not always that scientific.

That said, you're clearly an intelligent and considered person - you need not ridicule other posters as often as you do. In my opinion, that is.

Let's line up the next scapegoats:

Will it be....

a) Oscar Mac

b) Bernie

c) Melksham

d) Tommy Mac

wait! e) Dom Tyson

or...will Col Garland get the blame for everything?

Omac and Vince will be easily sharing the joy.

how is this possibly Taylor's domain ??

Goodwin ... yes, Macca ..yes,  ...Viney...yes... some folk in leadership group...yes.

Taylor gets to look for talent...spend currency..( and then again not as he only makes suggestions )

Maybe Taylor needs to have some currency before he spends it.

Wouldn't it be funny if JW got up to make his speech and declared he's staying??!

Wowee!

Biggest moment since the bomb hit No 96 and Mr and Mrs Gondolfus were written out of the show!

Of course Jack might just be in the shower...

Dr Biffen thinks the psychological predisposition of Pro-Dee to grandiosity is perhaps more reflective of healthy ego .

Dr Biffen is never wrong.

However,Pro Dee is often wrong.

Hey! You went to Hollywood Upstairs Medical College too?

Ilvoe Jack of a clubman and his talent, but he hasn't shown he commitment required of him according to the club.  We need players with strong work ethic to go with their talent.  I will be interesting what happens with him.  Ideally his finally realised how much he needs to commit and knuckles down (Like Dusty), but i doubt it.   So he'll be gone.

Obviously. He doesn't create it or cause it. His job is recruitment...thats the IN columb. He has nothing to do with the OUT .

He'll advise who's best available. The FD then spends...not Taylor.

Mr Stretch: I thought we was talking about Pro Dee. I am an unabashedful JW fan. He can have his non-interested moments because, like Cyril, his moments are sublime.

In Goodwin's defense, he's made it clear that he isn't interested in the past and is creating new history with his time as coach. That he's come in, dismissing the fact Watts has been a scapegoat for a decade yet still sees an issue there, is an indictment on Watts and certainly the club more broadly for having allowed it. I think there's a lot we don't know and I take it that his preparation post injury was the final nail in the coffin for a player that probably had a very interesting character assessment already established for Goodwin when he started. Roos has come in and applied positive reinforcement. We've given players everything they need to excel and grow their game. That we're still having these issues with him is an insult to the club and fans. He's not the sole reason for our end to the season, but I argue he's the catalyst.

If he has the potential to be the cherry on top of a good team, fair to say he's going to stand out when the cherry is bruised.

Imo this is 100% in his corner now. I believe the club is prepared to keep him but he simply won't play and will languish in the VFL if standards drop. Maybe him playing round 1 this year was the wrong choice considering the reasoning behind him not playing preseason.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
