With Trade Week right around the corner, the one name that keeps getting brought up is Dom Tyson. So what do you think? Keep or Trade him?

I have been arguing about Dom with several mates for a few years.  They reckon he is a gun.  I reckon he is a plodder.

He starts on the ball & should be compared to other starting mid fielders like Treloar, Shuey, Hannaberry, Marc Murphy or Zorko.

I reckon he is slow, doesn't take many marks, not a high goalkicker & only has average disposal skills, just does not often impact the game or hurt the opposition.

Clearly the coaches seem to love him - what do other Demonlanders reckon ?

In short trade him, the gaps from his best to worst are staggering.

He is not in the same class of those guys that you mentioned.

I would trade Tyson. His disposal is not good enough for a player of his pace, he cannot play any other role than inside midfielder and our midfield lacks balance with too many inside players.

Not nearly good enough

Another demon who continually fails to have sustained impact

Together with Salem the trade is looking more and more like a bust

Doesn't struggle to find the ball at all, which is disappointing because he is very talented in that respect. But his decision making and in particular his kicking, is deplorable. I think he'll be superseded by Neal-Bullen in the near future, but maybe it won't be so bad when Tyson is our 5th or 6th best midfielder.

Please name them.

Who of our "too many" inside midfielders are actually up to scratch?

Who will make our midfield one of, if not the best midfield in the competition that is capable of pushing for a flag?

I can think of two players. That is all.

Three...Oliver, Viney, Trac.

We need to get more class in there.

LMAO, look at everyone demanding him to be traded, and when I put his name up for the Lever deal I got put to the slaughter and was called out for even mentioning his name as a trade option.

Oliver, Viney, Jones, Petracca, Brayshaw, Salem, Lewis, Vince, ANB, Vandenberg and perhaps Maynard all look capable of winning the ball on the inside, but we need some pace and quality kicking skills to compliment them.

Our biggest need is a player like Isaac Smith, Sidebottom or Higgins.

Gets the ball but does nothing with it.

Amount of times he has coughed it up at the worst possible moments is staggering. Time and time again he kicks it directly to a oppostion player or to a team mate in danger of being tackled.

If there is a replacement for him, it wouldnt be a loss IMO.

I am always for improvement.

Right here and now - who would you replace Tyson with that is on our list.

At this stage no-one. So it is like anything - if we can trade to advantage then fine. But at this moment Tyson is not keeping anyone out of the team.

I absolutely hope we can get better midfielders as this Saturday showed exactly where we fell down. We could not hit a target to save ourselves. One of the keys to winning any game is footskills and we are lacking. Tyson unfortunately sits in the "iffy disposal" category which is a shame as he doesn't have a problem getting the ball.

If Richmond (or someone) gave us a first rounder I would take it...there's always been a bit of tiger talk around him.

Otherwise a keeper...

he's a second rotation midfielder and there's no difference btw him and a myriad of other similar types of players at other clubs

you wouldn't be trading him for a pick; it'd put you backwards

a like-for-like would achieve nothing

I've been going into bat for Dom for a while now, however it feels more like defending the indefensible.

Trade bait for mine, if he wasn't contracted to 2019.

Wouldn't get a game at any of the top 6 clubs. Can't run, can't kick. He's just a taller version of Miles from Richmond - the major difference being Richmond got him for free and we gave up the oppportunity to bring in Kelly or Bontempelli, the two best young players in the competition, for Tyson.

The Tyson trade and the Vince trade (the pick that got Matt Crouch) look just terrible now.

IMO not gold class and we should never, never ever, recruit a midfielder who isn't gold class ever again if we are truly serious about a flag. Reasonable player with reasonable skills,  but slow legs, ( like all our other midfielders) slow decision maker, not ruthless enough, doesn't punish or hurt the opposition much. Trade if there is one suitable, or keep as back up possibly.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
