We have bite the bullet, cannot play jones and vince in the same side. Oliver needs help and probably needs to have an additional week off. Since Gawn's return we turned to mush, probably opposition players have worked him out. We need to bite the bullet, perhaps Hogan needs to play back or be traded. We need to get more currency in the next trade,ANB ,Kennedy,JKH and Tyson to be moved on. Lever to become f.b. Omac to wing,T.Mac forward. We need a near ruckman,Gawn should play forward with only zone ruck duties. We need more mids with guts and speed. two wins up on last year is not good enough, but as a dee supporter you expect disappointment.

[censored] me dead man, are you for real?

I agree there is lack of hunger in this team. The midfield are so [censored] wasteful in there disposal and constantly bomb the ball into the  forward line.I swear l was back watching the U/12s in a local school comp.

Tyson's first 3 possessions were turnovers as usual but at least he got his hands on it, Harmes, Hannan, Tom Mac & Vince were absolutely putrid and 15 others weren't much better.

Only Petracca, Lewis & Melksham could really hold their heads high.

Really miss Frost's run out of defence. Apart from Hunt, all our defenders really lack leg speed. Oscar, Jetta, Tom Mac, Salem, Hibberd, Lewis are all slow and don't provide any dash.

One of the main faults I see over and over is the hand ball to some poor bastard close by with his oppo up his clacker , for gods sake , think and look more . It's just a killer ! Always panicking when coolness is what is needed .

I'm thinking Jones is far too slow , maybe playing hurt , Gawn cannot leap , he's rooted to the spot . He's hurt also I reckon . Well I hope he is for next years sake.

Complete lack of intensity and desire for the ball today ! Too damn flakey for mine !

KNEE JERK REACTIONS   I never cease to be amazed at the number of  forum members who are so hot and cold. Big win -'Greatest team in comp'. Disappointing loss- 'Gutless, cowards, soft under belly etc etc.'  Many must have had little involvement in any form of sport, Of course it was disappointing for  Demon fans BUT how do you think the players must feel? If our boys were really gutless cowards the margin would have been in the vicinity of 15 goals. We showed guts and courage to get within 8 points in the last quarter but our poor 1st quarter cosy us dearly. Think we won each of the last three quarters, had more possessions and inside 50s.

Trading Jones is a ridiculous comment. So much for loyalty and bravery against great odds.

Brayshaw was very ordinary. He didnt hit hardly any targets and manages to get his kicks smothered very often. Id like to see this particular stat. It would be out of him and Tyson to see who gets smothered more. But I dont mind Dom's kicks being smothered, it creates a 50/50.

good call frankie. tyson takes that long to put boot to ball it reminds me of a dial up internet connection.

also, is goodwin even watching the same games. why does he let vince take the kick ins?  he tries to thread the needle unnecessarily . go short to a 100% option or long to a 50/50. Not 25metres to a 50/50!!

Did we get done by 100 points?

No but we lost again against a side that we should beat. So even a one point loss should be unacceptable. We can no longer accept performances like that. They have over 8 of their best players out today. We had one of our strongest teams in on paper. We played very dumb football and don't deserve to play finals.

Who gives a sh.t how many last three qtrs we won. Dee supporters deserve better, look at Essendon last 2016 to 8th for far 2017. A loss is a loss and we are entitled to get p.ssed off.  Dave and Demon77 instead of telling me what the f..k,tell us all what would you do to improve the footy side?

Hannan gets a game because he can sometimes kick a goal - but he's not reliable & goes missing 2 much. Last week he's lining up 4 goal doesn't go even close I'm not sure he plats the percentages

Trading him isn't an option but he's not a good leader he goes missing 2 much & makes 2 many poor decisions 4 someone so experienced. I much prefer Viney

We need players who are better users of the ball. Kelly and Lever will be a good start.

He may very well have good leadership qualities. Thats not the be all.

As footy is somewhat combative I'll use a military analogy. Duntroon turns out a lot of leaders. They are taught leadership etc etc. They get to wear the pips etc. Still, out of all this manufacturing there will only be a number of REAL leaders. The ones you would follow into battle and the ones that have that "something" that turns a fight, rallies the troops, brings them home.

For every one of these there are any number of well qualified managers in uniform. Theres a difference.

They should've dropped Vince from last week and the week before and the week before performances, who once again plays like he always does

 'guaranteed a game' laconic performance

The use of the ball at times yesterday was mindblowingly stupid. Kicking too far through too many possible opposition to alow chance target...i mean seriously..fm.

One of my B-i-L (ex filth player as it happens ) turned to me yesterday with a horribly accurate summation of our game. Hospital-Handpass.

Agree, if you were looking at this thread you would think we had done nothing ALL year and ALL game. The boys got back in it. As SG said we are a work in progress, and will learn from this.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
