6. Oliver. Feel like he is carrying the midfield a bit at present. Desperately missing Viney.

5. Lewis. One of a few not overawed. Got in the right places a number of times and had a couple of great deft touches.

4. Melksham. Dangerous around goals as always. Looked like he could have been a game changer.

3. Watts. Attacked the ball early. Faded late but a promising return.

2. Neal-Bullen. Consistent effort all game.

1. Petracca for the one quarter blitz. Needs to stop his invisible man trick when we're playing poorly.

Nobody in our colours could muster a good four quarter contribution, so it's no bloody wonder we lost.  Anyways:

Of all games to pick apart votes, surely this is one of the most ridiculous. It's not exactly a game where we are spoiled for choice.

That said, very few stood up in that first quarter but I thought he was one. I notice you left out his two goals and 5 tackles (equal highest). That's handy.

I also would've thought you have to be highly rated in order to be overrated. Please direct me to all the threads raving about Neal-Bullen because I haven't seen them.

6. Petracca - fewer possessions than others but more impact

5. Bernie - hardest worker all day

4. Hunt - almost created enough interest for us to start playing

3. Hibbo - hibbo V opposition attack. Defence a mess again and he is the cleaner

2. Garlett - solid game

1. Lewis - clean

Was captaincy the right move?

Jack needs to be pulled back at times, the foot injury and early return is case in point. Taking on the captaincy, Jack wants to do the right thing but takes on too much. Needs more maturity.

Jack Watts equal 9th in Demonland player of the year 2017. We must all be rubbish judges.  Though looking at the list, I think it was a fair outcome overall.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
