They'll go Oliver I reckon.

Our fortunes rise and fall more on his back than on Hunts. Also they have a bit of ammo from the events of the last few days. Having said that we know that neither of these kids will take a backward step and the Swans may find they have bitten off more than they can chew.

Clayton Oliver has the perfect one line comeback.... Schofield dropped this week by Methtoast.

Hilarious full stop to this issue.

Go Dees!

Given the week he's had you'd think if Sydney were going to target anyone it would be Oliver. I wouldn't expect Oliver to back down but it could just distract him a bit, and sometimes that's all you need.

It may well fire him up. GO DEES.

Melksham will play a defensive forward role on Mills.

You're probably right. Good match up and is a strong mark and accurate kick so can hurt them offensively too.

I could be wrong.  It could be Lloyd.

I don't.  A big bull inside mid like Kennedy is almost impossible to tag.

I can see them tagging Hannebery or Heeney.

So I think it will be one of Mills, Lloyd, Hannebery, or Heeney.

My guess is one of their back-flankers.

In which case id target mills. Terrific intercept mark, goos decision maker and a beautiful kick, he sets up alot of their attacks. Has been finding form of late too.

Melk would have a significant strength advantage so mills might struggle against him.

A really good young player. Excellent lmark then smart kick late in theie win against dons.

Yeah well I picked Mitch White earlier in the week! Maybe I know more than I should!???

Mitch White deserves call up has been impresive in the last couple of weeks AND ripping bloke to match!

And maybe you don't. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

But what really troubles me most about your posts is that the structure, language and punctuation is essentially identical to the tweets of President Trump. You're not him...are you?

Id love it if they tried to rough up Oliver.

poke the bear, he will not take a backwards step and will still get 35 touches

Oliver head to head with Kennedy will be great to watch. he should learn a lot (but still beat him)

In years gone by, a game like tonight would have many of the Melbourne faithful heading to the G with hope of the boys just being competitive.

With the scheduling of the last month, injuries and 5 of your best players out you wouldn't even blame some of us for not turning up.

Something has changed though, Goodwin and Co have embraced this challenge and provided us a bunch of depth  players that are playing with a heart the size of Phar Lap.  The last 10 minutes against West Coast was clearly evident of this.

By no means, is a loss against the swans catastrophic  in the context of the season but try and telling that to the players that run out tonight.

A win tonight will certainly Raise Hell!!!!

Think they'll try and target Oliver or maybe Viney's shoulder. As long as they get support from team mates, they'll be fine. Would like Buggy to get in Mills' face.

It's in games like tonight where Vince, Lewis, Melksham and Hibbert's experience of big games and finals will help us when the Swans throw everything at us.

I reckon Maxy and Petracca are both due and will revel in the big stage.

Excited.

I was at the SCG last week and despite the fact their tenacity to come back in the last quarter was pretty great to watch - I don't think sydney are that special - just need to do the job on buddy.

Even without our 3 best forwards I still think we should have belief this is a winnable game and one we shouldn't be thinking of as being true underdogs.

our turf. Our year. Give em hell lads!

Not sure it has been mention here but a Bigfooty poster claims Kent, Kennedy & JKH all missed out due to club imposed bans, apparently failed to prepare appropriately following last weeks vfl win....

If that's the case then (a) we have some of the stupidest players imaginable, as all would have been in contention for selection this week, and (b) it is even more ridiculous that JKH was handed a new contract this week.

I don't see the need for both Wagner & White but, as others have suggested, presumably Hunt plays forward.

If we are in the game at quarter time, we are every chance, but I can't see us clawing back a deficit this week off the back of multiple short weeks.

looking at their team it is quite small. Grundy the only def over 188cm I think? Only one ruckman, not sure how would play 2nd ruck, maybe reid. I think we should play Gawn fwd 40% and get Tmac/Pedo on the ball/ruck. Gawn could cause havock!

I have provided the CIA with your details! We know where you hang out! I'm not sure Malcolm what's his name knows you though!

Swans history suggest they target someone who is an influencer. Oliver will cop it tonight. He will also give it straight back, and Viney, Bugg, Hunt and Lewis will swarm in and cause havoc. The opening 5 mins will be electric.

Two issues - Buddy and Kennedy.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
