I have just wasted three hours of my life watching the nonsense that FoxSports masquerades as AFL Sport. The game (NM v Saints) admittedly was sod ordinary, but the commentary around it, particularly when led by Eddie McGuire was simply innane. I know a lot of you will say "well derr", but it is no wonder the western world allows stupidity to creep into our everyday life when we have these lightweights as being our so called community leaders.

Oh yes, it did not help either when I happened to come across, when I was trying unsuccessfully to make online broadcasting of AFL games work on my iphone, a relay of an interview McGuire had with Christian Pettracca on 3mmm when it was all about pettracca barracking  for Collingwood when he was growing up, and how much mcguire would spent on getting him "to come home" as he put it. When he (McGuire) found out that a few of our players after QB game went to the cinema after the game, Eddie's comment was "I will buy the cinema for you if you come and play with us".

What a F-wit honestly. The serious point is though as we get closer to the top our elite will be targeted by losers like McGuire. I guess it was always so....

desperaaaaado.

he is a declining heavyweight who is skipping classes rapidly straight to lightweight (meet dermie on the way down) and will wither to a bantamweight in a featherweight casket

his veiled threats are wearing so thin (not that they ever had much weight in the first place), not even the head honchos at the AFL seem to be intimidated by him like they once were. Clearly a sign that McChins is losing his (what he and anything Filth associated believes is their divine right) influence.

As much as i want to see him gone from the AFL landscape, i just as much want to see him go down with his sinking ship, deep into the doldrums where they belong. I'm not as antagonistic towards Bucks (i don't find him as intolerable), but if he goes down with that lot, good riddance.

Exactly.

There was a time when he was a powerbroker and one to be feared in the AFL. That was a long time ago. Everyone's wise to his antiquated ways of thinking. It's sort of similar with Buckley. I hope they keep running that club. They won't win any flags while they do.

We still owe Collingwood for Dawes,Neeld and H.

We gave them their two best backmen.

We stole their best recruiter.

They are not a destination club .

They are mid to lower ladder material with idiotic leadership and a sitting duck coach.

Just a happy coincidence that since then our list is flourishing whilst theirs is doing a 'prendergast'

No wonder Desperate Eddie is trying to plunder other's lists.

Eddie was a big hitter (remember at one stage he was CEO of Channel 9) who still has clout that is probably greater than his position deserves.

Collingwood Presidents have a tradition of talking up their club but I wonder if his time (like that of Buckley) has now come.

The latest "review" smacks of a last ditch effort to placate the Board and key backers.

The other issue for Collingwood is what does it do with its money. With salary caps and limits on soft dollar spending on football it is now dabbling in other area (netball for example). One day someone is going to question the future direction of the "business."

I wouldn't mind that club's money worries

I certainly don't think of Eddie as a lightweight but the Eddie era might be staring at its end days. Overall he's been very good for his club but it's time to plough the field.

The mickey mouse saga still haunts them. The ghost is called Buckley ^_^

They actually remind ne of us some years back... and the presence of Howe and Dunn earily support that. A handful of good players but a game style unsuited to the day. A club losing traction on the ladder staring into an abyss.

Such deliciousness to behold :pj:

On the business side... I wonder if Collingwood will dabble in the area of media.

Rather easy to set up a radio station. They have a good listener base in their fans and therefore a ready sponsorship base. Next step would be to cover games. (Assuming the AFL would deal with them in a radio rights deal.)

Eddie would have a conflict with his MMM connections but that could be "managed".

NFL teams have had local radio stations for years (admit they are one team cities).

Sorry I got nothing original to add, but Jeez, Biff, I wish you hadn't reminded me. Can't believe the duds we got from them. And it kind of broke my heart to see that beautiful mark in a Collingwood jumper.

There's a free-to-air network which is probably available at a cheap price.

Having said that, surely the AFL will have a look at whether it's worth them buying the Ten Network and thereby having total control over vision.

pretty sure that would probably void their multi billion deal with ch7

I used to listen to MMM on the way to work in the morning but stopped listening  because the first thing Eddie does at 6am is complain about something, Luke Darcy on the team didn't help me stay either.

[censored], now I'm starting to complain like Eddie.

Interesting thought and Eddie has never allowed conflicts of interest to worry him.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
