A ridiculous thread, particularly when contextualised with the other 'Clanger Kings'. Dom Tyson is one of the first picked every week, and deservedly so.

Well, according to the OP it would seem that Tyson is our weakest link, while Oscar is our strongest.  Have I logged into Bizzarro Demonland by accident?

All we need is for someone to pronounce Cameron Schwab as the greatest CEO our club has ever had and the bizzaro world will be complete.

And Neeld was the greatest coach of all time who had the undying respect of players and supporters alike.

If the day arises where Tyson is pushed out of the team, it'll mean one of 2 things;

1. We are going to win 5 straight flags, or

2. We have d!ckheads in charge of team selection

Interesting that Lewis averages .26 clangers less than Dom, yet no-one is calling him a turnover merchant.

If the OP was 'Tyson's disposal has been shite this year' everyone would just about agree. But Bobby's poor delivery gifted it straight to the opposition. Clanger.

Dom Tyson ???

He certainly seems to be surrounded by a bunch of hacks on the supplied list. Huge concern (insert sarcasm here)

This stat is quite irrelevant and penalises the people who win more of the pill as we all no one goes at 100% efficiency.  It would be of more use possibly when dividing the possessions by the clangers.

I'm a big Dom fan but he is having a bit of a stinker season. He definitely wouldn't be one of the first picked at present but is still safe in the best 22 for mine.

I still think some issues he is having this year is due to playing out of his preferred position. He was great his first year as a preferred inside mid but now he is third in line behind Viney and the inspiring Clarrie.

He's learning I think a slightly different role played in a different spot and I'm ok with that.

Glad to see he played some decent footy in the second half vs the Crows. Hopefully he can back it up!

Rather a player get leather poisoning and turn it over a few times than not get the ball at all.

Would like to see Dom improve his kicking, but he is a very important player to our improvement going forward.

There once was a man. A man of great renown across this 'land. And for three straight weeks back in ought-fourteen he was a god, a god by hand and by foot among those mere clanger-ridden mortals cowed beneath his golden boot. His name to all who knew him was Alex Georgiou.

Dom's an interesting one. He can roost it 60m on the fly and has a nice looking action, but turns it over as much as anyone on our list and a poor shot for goal.

He's a very good 4th string midfielder but if we build our midfield up to GWS levels in the future (would he get a game there now?) then he's going to have to fix his kicking, which I think he can. Against Hawthorn he didn't miss a target.

His kicking actually reminds me a bit of Scully's who was a liability until recently but is now a decent kick.

How about the OP outlines what constitutes a clanger. It's one of those stats that doesn't tell a true reflection on the overall performance of the player. Pretty sure that Dangerfield and Fyfe were "clanger kings" in their Brownlow year.

IMO, Tyson has played pretty well in the past 3 weeks.

He sure has.

Harmes is a consistent butcher. Tyson's last half at Adelaide showed what a clever link player he is, and was always laying the tackle.  Smart footballer and important part of the engine room.  Our captains, great thought hey are , can also be problematic - cue the hawks game.

This is a silly thread with no meaningful analysis on the premise and statistics.

Our top 5 clangerers are Tyson, TMac, Vince, Oliver and Hunt. All 5 of them are also top 10 in disposal average (Tyson 5th).

Gee, what a revelation that the players who get the ball the most are the ones with the greatest chance of misusing it on occasion.

A scary analysis Nasher.

I guess we better drop them all this week due to their unreliability?

Weirdly timed thread given Dom has actually been better in recent weeks. Still looks slower in the legs but he's tidied up his disposal.

He won't be the leader of the midfield going forward but we no longer need him to be.

A strange phenomena isn't it. I'm sure there is a relevant psychological condition that covers such behavior. Trollitis? Thread worm?

As I mentioned earlier but seems to have disappeared.. Stuie for Bobby thanks admins.

But it appears he can't just at the moment. Seems to be really missing penetration in his kicking. Did he do his left knee or right knee at man-camp?

Would be interesting to see it weighted as a % against their average disposals per game.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
