My biggest irritant last night was how the commentators were raving about Scully especially during the third quarter to how he was an unstoppable endurance superman that plays out second halfs without a rest. He did have a rest at the start of the last quarter and MIA for the rest.

He should have stayed on the ground and kept going.

Lost momentum in the last for sure, or maybe the Aints sensed that GW$ were tiring with only 20 fit soldiers and upped the pressure.

I know there is some bad blood with some supporters but Scully is genuine a grade now, he would walk into our side and be in the top 5 players

St Kilda remind me a little of North.... never the perpetual basket case like a team we all know

Imagine having three or four (now only two) senior players that are automatic selections for 15 odd years thus allowing the luxury of building the team around them.

Wins against Hawthorn and GWS in consecutive weeks is not bad..... Hopefully the MFC can show us similar strengths over the next six weeks.

On the game Mumford was not dominant in the ruck and GWS just didn't take those key marks like they did against the Bulldogs.

I would say finally a B+ thought he has been paid as an A grader for the past 5 seasons. Great with slick handball and elite endurance running but kicking skills average and can't take a mark. Not a great thinker of the game and no leadership skills. Goes missing when the chips are down. Only started to show better form when the rest of the team became good and he has benefited from Mumford's silver service and support by prime talent in the midfield. Downhill skier ++.

I didn't watch the game and keep hearing GWS only had 20 fit men.

I've been told by somebody in the know that one of the injured players was only unavailable for 15mins.

And St Kilda had a lame Reiwoldt. Arguably their best player. Completely missing in final half though he remained on the ground.

Yes. But he was seeing "tweeting birds" for the remainder of the game and probably still is after the sling tackle

Saints are a great side! I think that they are not far off being considered in the same class as GWS and Doggies. They are slightly ahead of us I feel due to their better field kicking.

I think aside from us replacing the Eagles the top 8 looks almost set.

Lol. Is that you Richo? We've well and truly past the Saints. Our depth of talent is quite a way ahead of them. It's unlikely that St Kilda will be in the 8 by the end of the weekend either.

Further, it's laughable to suggest the 8 is almost set. It's becoming ever more even every week. This season is going to go down to the wire. It'll be about who can string a bunch of wins together. I'm tipping us to win 4 or 5 in a row later in the season.

But right now, if results go our way this week, we could be as high as 6th, but more likely 7th.

And on Scully, he's a good player in a good team. He doesn't win enough of the ball himself, so he relies on others to give it to him and he then uses his endurance to outrun others with his superior aerobic capacity. But if his mids run out of legs (as was the case last night) or struggle to get the ball to him, he can't get in the game and his kicking skills are shown up.

I'd class him as a B grader personally.

Crows should have Norf covered pretty easily

I reckon 10 goals plus without getting out of first gear for the crows

LOL Daniel Wells a late withdrawal for the Filth.

What a white elephant that bloke is - very talented but can't stay on the park.

And they signed him for what, 3 years?

My opinion of him is he is a great endurance runner, having good handball skills, with fair kicking skills over a short distance, but unable to kick with any penetration and scared to go into a hard contest. He can often be seen waiting for the soft possie out wide, or turning his body in a contest he can't avoid and not going for the ball, or simply avoiding hard contests altogether.

Fair go. He has played well in both games back from injury and this would have been 3 games in 12 days. He was never going to play.

Personally, I think Adelaide hitting a patch of awful form and being found out is a good thing for us.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
