Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why? Playing with your brother is overrated IMO. Even if they play at different ends of the ground. Easier to be your own man at a different club in this day and age.

If I were him I'd make the decision based upon:
1. Money
2. Success
3. Place in the team structure - a starting CHF gig, preferably without ruck duties.

Geelong could make a convincing case to play him CHF, with Hawkins FF and Blicavs back up ruck with Taylor going to full back if Lonergan retires. Richmond could have him at CHF with Jack Riewoldt playing deeper. There's a number of clubs who might offer a lot better success and role than the Pies, and who knows how they are placed for cash.

Collingwood's deficiency is his capability.  They need a KPF to support the developing Moore.

So do we...and it's very much our deficiency.

No I don't think our need is there.  Weed is developing and will play that role.  This year we've been because of circumstance but as Weed and King mature the need evaporates.

One of our primary needs is a Fwd/ruck.  I see Reid has been eased into rucking and is now doing a fair bit with Tippett out.  If he is a good 2nd ruck, Id go after him. he is 25 and should be hitting his peak soon

Will depend mainly on $$$, contract and playing opportunities.

Who knows, may not like his bro?

Lever's put off contract talks until the end of the year, so it's a start.

I don't think we'll be alone in pursuing those two.

Very much doubt Reid will be leaving the Swans. Tippett triggered a clause in his contract which meant he is on big bucks this year care of his original contract. Swans would never have paid him that sort of money for his output. He'll either have to play for half the money next year or more likely get traded out. Swans will need Reid more than ever and have put years of rehab investment into him. His kicking has improved massively this year and he's an exceptional overhead mark. Swans will need him but not sure where he would fit in for us unless the decision is the Weid is a dud. We've got Watts in there plus Hewlett coming through and Smith in the background.

We tried to trade Trengrove out to get the pick we would have used to get Lever so we wanted him really badly in that draft. I'm sure we're still very keen. Who knows. Not sure what we'll have to give up for him. Not sure he's worth our first rounder.

By the looks of things at the moment, Lever could well be a premiership defender, which would both increase his $ value, and perhaps make him want to stay put.

Interesting thoughts - but do you KNOW that he doesn't want to share ruck duties?  Could see it as an opportunity to diversify.

Perhaps they're reporting what Demonlanders want to happen? ;)

People get very excited about player types. We're so desperate for a ruck/forward player to chop Maxy out I even heard some people say they wanted Vickery, which absolutely stunned me. If you take it as read that Vickery is a terrible, terrible AFL footballer, then the facts he's a good bloke and knows his way around a ruck contest are moot. This team is building to threaten for a flag, we can't hold onto other teams list clogger just cos we need a type of player. That's Richmond-style drafting.

So I'm interested in seeing a lot of fairly glass-half-empty type posters say they like him. I've only seen him monster a handful of games, and then he really goes missing a lot. And factor in the injury history. I can't see the excitement? Lever > May > Reid for me.

At his best Reid is an attractive target, but I strongly doubt he is durable enough to warrant eating $600K p.a. of the salary cap.

Personally I am of the view that Jack Watts is a very good relief ruckman and the Gawn/Watts combo is the best in the competition. So I don't see the need for a second ruck being as high a priority as others. (I would not be against drafting such a player with a later pick.) There is also a chance that the AFL change to a last touch rule on the boundary, which would make ruckman even less important.

Was it some random caller? Or was it one of the program hosts?

There is a monumental difference in the size of the salt grain depending on whom.

The problem is the Gawn/Watts combination does take quite a bit from our forwardline. If Weideman comes on quicker than expected and provides Hogan the chop out when Watts doesn't because he's rucking, then I think it becomes one of the best combinations in the league.

Right now though, Watts is too valuable for our forwardline and playing him in the ruck feels bit like robbing Peter to pay Paul. That said, I have been a massive fan of the move in general, as it gets Jack into the game and forces him to work on his physicality.

One of the hosts...  no idea who, I didn't hear it, was told by a mate.  Hopefully it wasnt Jon Ralph.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
