Hawks, Swans and North have opened up 3 top 8 spots that we are fighting for with half a dozen teams.

Port will take one for sure. We lose today it's not curtains but will make it very difficult for us.

We can win this one, we will have the fresher legs ( just ) and I expect us to run away with it in the last quarter.

And isn't that a powerful motivator.  Surely, that will spur the team on to overcome challenges.  Won't it?

Add Freo to that and that is 4 of the 2015 top 8 teams.

If ever there was a year that a team was going to sneak into the 8, this is it.  Will be incredibly disappointing if we don't get there this year.  Especially if the likes of Ess, Rich, StK do.

Will leave town for the finals season, if that happens!!

I've graduated from 'woe is me'  to quietly confident about our prospects as the week has progressed.  The team selections (both sides), and a slightly longer break, give us a bit of an edge imo, and I think we can play harder for longer and get over the line ........  but Tracc needs to be 100%.  He could be the difference if it goes down to the wire, I reckon.

Would be a good time for an overseas trip Luci. Somewhere isolated and sans internet.

Our little one came down with a virus on Friday and was chucking all day yesterday. At least that gives a me an excuse not to go to that cesspit of a stadium.

Not holding my breath for this one. Something has been off in the last 2 weeks, injuries aside. We just havent had that sustained hunger. Hopefully Lewis can come in and show some leadership - as we have been devoid of it for weeks.

Really want to see Viney have a big game. Hasnt been his usual self all year.

Sitting on the Tarmac at Tullamarine. Will miss the whole shebang - after the last 3 weeks this is good for my health.

Whenever I get to wifi later I'll find out if we're still on the hunt or staring down the barrel.

Good luck boys and girls.

GO DEEEES!!!

On the way we are playing, we are one of those teams that might 'sneak' in.  Until we find the groove with the game plan and get a few fit bodies back, I think that is our reality.

I think Richmond will be this years North - they are a pretty crap 5-0 team, and I think they will be totally pantsed by the Crows. We can write off North, Swans and (maybe) Hawthorn, although Hawthorn are the more likely of this bunch to get their Mojo back.

I think there will be lots of upsets all year.  I so want us to win today - because it is the bummers, because of how it sets up our next 6 weeks, and how it sets up our season.

Handy in my case.

As soon as the final siren blows I'll be heading for the Skybus to the airport and will land in Perth by 8:30pm (WST).

Totally agree - need the forwards to fire and someone (anyone) to do the job on daniher. Lewis back is huge - and I think helps us  be quietly confident of a win.

Ok. Crystal ball out

Damn... it's cracked.

Anyhow.

How we win.:

Stop their thrusts before hb.

If cant win ruck , shark them . Filth did it for years.

Contest, contest CONTEST the ball. Lock it up, deprive them of run.

Wear Joe like glove Touch him up mercilessly. Thats your job Sam...run with and deny.

Lewis and Pig. Command central for rebound assaults. Your kicking is crucial to that next target.

Tommy Tommy Tommy. Do that good stuff you do but for Christ sake give ir to Pig or Lewis to 'dispose'

Bernie...need a pearler from you.

Chunk. No hero rubbish ...good solid ball winning...get rid of quickly...like Clarry be !!

Clarrry...just be you.. you're fine ;)

Nev ... Big day son...shut down someone :)

Milkshake. Today you deliver....or f@#$ OFF!!

Viney. Wanna play general. Be GENERAL !! LIFT son. Solid SOLID game required.

Jeffy...ffs today turn it on....to Max !!

Harris... meh...hmmm. Score...or go home.

Dom dom dom. Time for the good Dom to reappear.

Pedo. Make this game yours !!

Watts. Well ..you know watt you're doing....just keep doing it ;)

Truck....Big Mack time !!

ANB. Know where boundary line be like !!

Hannan ...fly under radar and over them. Good luck ;)

Go Dees

( Cant come home with eldest gloating.....again !! )

So if we lose today we r on the same wins as Carlton! F  A  R  K  ING Carlton

Now that would be depressing.

I have little confidence about today and I'm sick of feeling like this.

If we lose some apologist will come out and gloat that our percentage is better than Carlton's. Try and console yourself with that.

If injuries aren't an excuse then a loss today and being 2 and 4 is a failure in my books.

Losing to Freo on our own dung heap had already demolished the injury excuse.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
