This is the biggest joke about the whole thing. Melbourne should be able to take that hogan incident and argue a case that it is only low impact without any risk. They wouldn't be claiming he should get off, they would still be saying he is guilty. But for some reason that would mean he risks 3 weeks, catch 22.

At least they are not season ending injuries and Hogan will have time to get over any niggles. The reality is that we have to learn to play without some of our stars during the season as a result of injury or suspension. Better now than later. Agree with some other comments that all players have to be more disciplined.  You can be tough and hard without getting suspended.  Because everyone is watching.

the system is broken when you rely on the club doctors report, just like every other person they vary in opinion, Thompson smacked Dangerfield across the face with a elbow yet the Geelong doc only thought it was low impact. Inconsistent rubbish.

It is one thing to observe an incident from the stands or video footage and come up with a conclusion lacking in all of the facts.  It is entirely another thing to 'hear' the case.  Regardless of the jurisdiction, a kangaroo court has never served any useful purpose.

This is a bit of a joke. I have looked at Hogans over and over again and it just seems to be low contact with almost an open palm. It looked like it just slid up off his chest. Lewis was given the 3 due to Cripps having a fractured jaw post match. But apparently taking a dive is almost as bad as a broken jaw these days. If anyone saw Scott Thompson's hit on Dangerfield you can see that taking a dive is the only reason between 1 and 2 weeks. I mean Thompsons was an elbow to the head. Tell me how that's better than a palm.

MFC becoming antisocial and it comes at a price, so be it. Bernie comes in for Lewis and be interesting to see who replaces Hogan. Maybe it will be Spencer, remember we beat Geelong without Hogan before with Spencer up forward. If Spencer comes in expect Jack to play CHF or maybe go small and play Hannan CHF and bring Bugg in to annoy Dangerwood

Cripps has a hairline fracture in his Jaw from Lewis. 

I mean holy [censored], imagine if it were two Carton players and one of the victims happened to be our best mid who was potentially going to miss because of an injury caused by a hit to the head? Demonland would be losing its [censored].

We should not be surprised when these penalties are not replicated for other incidents later in the year. This can only be the MRP trying to make a stand early in the season.

It is such a mediocre operation in there. No transparency and rewards for petals like Rowe indulging in acting classes.

Is it my imagination or do we routinely do badly with the MRP?

 - the penalties do appear to be harsh

 - everyone has got to stop comparing incidents - we know there is zero consistency on what gets cited by the MRP and how they calculate a penalty.

 - taking a dive and acting classes ? really ? they both got whacked in the head and posters tell them stop acting ?

They are all ex plalyers.  Not sure what schooling, if any they have in medical matters, gathering or weighingevidence etc.  Do they even have check sheets to evaluate each case.  Surely, they would question why the Geelong doctors medical evidence on Danger had them assess as 'low impact' to the head (from an elbow) but the Carlton doctor evidence had Hogan and Lewis classified as 'medium impact'. 

It seems they can't even apply consistency in the same week let alone week to week.  Baffling!

And you know it's not ?

We know that the MRP do get a report from the club after incidents to see what impact it had if any. I suspect that the report is saying a fracture and it was caused by this incident

Are you suggesting that Carlton lied in a medical report to the AFL ?

I think I prefer the alternative  - the medical report says there is a hairline fracture caused by the incident. It does appear to make just a little more sense.
