Viney aside we are virtually injury free for the best 22. Our previously injured guys are starting to hit form. just need to get over the line this week, have a rest and we could do some damage!

Viney's in strife IMO. Was just on 9 news saying he can't rush back or he could make it worse, mentioned it was more a bone injury & nothing to do with his previous injury.

I don't like the sound of a bone injury in the foot.

Shattered if he can't make it back for finals should we make it.

JV's got three weeks before the elimination final (assuming we get there...) so fingers crossed.

Jimmy Toumpas ... knee ... test.

If he doesn't come good, that will certainly harm Port's finals campaign !!!

Poor Jimmy was part of lose-lose-lose trade involving 3 clubs

Remind me of that trilogy?

Bad news:  Viney and TMc will not start preseason till after Christmas

Better news:  Jesse will start normal preseason.

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2017-09-08/viney-and-mcdonald-face-delayed-starts

It seems Viney would not have played in finals if we had made it.

Lets hope they have his foot problem under control and we haven't jeopardised his full recovery by bringing him back too early.  If I recall it was a 4 to 6 and he came back after 2 weeks.  He is a tough cookie but sometimes it shouldn't be the player's call.  We have medicos and coaches to do that.

How about they just let us know what the [censored] the injury is?

Is it that difficult?

Misson -  "Jack's experiencing a sore foot. He could be out forever or it could be a couple of weeks".

I tend to think that the specifics of a players medical history are none of our business.

If they tell us, great!  But I don't think they're obliged to tell us anything other than 'foot' and expected date of return.

Misson's EOS http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2017-09-12/end-of-season-injury-summary

So many foot injuries!  Smith, Vand, Viney!   Viney's sounds serious.  Why they brought him back after only two weeks is beyond me.

Not to sure what to make of the report on Jesse.  "Jesse, with that hamstring [injury], was pretty close to coming back and actually playing again after half-time [against Collingwood in round 23]. He wasn’t really confident with his flat-out sprinting, so he didn’t want to risk that.  He would’ve been pretty close to playing [in the first week of the finals], if we had have made it. "

Is that contradictory?

TBH, even if he wasn't confident with 'sprinting flat out', surely parking him in the goal square was preferable to the bench making us down a player and rotations in rnd 23.  Dangerfield kicked 5 a few months ago in similar circumstances.  Were we saving Jesse for the Elim final...the one that never came...

The Viney injury really concerns me. He is also starting preseason around Christmas if all goes well. What if it doesn't go well after all it's a foot injury and we all know how difficult they r to overcome.

I really hope he doesn't have an injury interrupted season in 2018 as he is one player we need on the field.

Hoping is just a related reaction to the surgery he had earlier in the season and not something new to worry about. I do think that of our list the guys who late starts won't be an issue are TMac and Viney, TMac due to his incredible fitness and endurance and Viney because it won't change the way he plays at all, reminds me of how Jelwood can come back in and make a difference after having little to no pre-season over the last couple of years.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
