My favourite current player, great to see him back in. Not expecting too much from him after such a long break but at least he gives us outside run. He goes in very hard, but I love his outside play.

The problem is that for the most part, even heavy set strong bodied kids don't have the mature, conditioned bodies to match it with battle hardened AFL midfields without burning them out.

That said Angus is a few years into the system now and should be able to handle being amongst the action.  That is where we want and need him, as with the aging of Bernie our midfield is crying out for more grunt, thoughness and class, which Gus has in spades.

This whole issue really does make me think that Paul Roos has it right when he suggests that the draft age should be lifted.

I'm a big rap for him on the HBF. 

Was a really good user today and plays quite tall in taking a couple strong grabs.

Happy to keep him there and maybe get Bernie back up the ground a bit to win a bit more pill.

Man that head knock was a close call. If he came out on the wrong side of it, it may have been season over.

What a great return game.  This kid went at pick 2 for a reason, and injury/health permitting will be a champ for us.

Great courage by the young man to keep contesting after a heavy head knock - Stevens unfortunately had concussion and a burst ear drum.

Gus: “My mum’s here somewhere, so I’m sure she would’ve nearly had tears coming out after that,” he said on Fox Footy.  “It was a pretty solid hit. I’ve had a few of those and I feel fine, so I’ve got full confidence. I’ve done all the work.”

A proud day for the Brayshaw family.  So rapt for him (and us).

Said to son before the game...as he asks about who to put in his fantasy sides etc....He asked ..Viney?  I said  nah...GUS !!  Just watch him straighten up the play.. He played further back than I thought he would today but a good way to bring him back into the fray.
