I feel that this is the same situation as O McDonald Vs Dunn last year     The club needed to get games into OMac as he was the future and Dunn had to give way even if he deserved more games.

It is now Garland Vs J.Smith   Who is the future???

All players should be in the same boat -  play so well that you can't leave be left out. Dunn had ok form when he played last year but wasn't outstanding and was therefore behind Omac.

Lets rewind to Nev Jetta. He was almost done and dusted. His form warranted that he could not be left out of the team.

It is harder and harder now that we have raised the bar with more talent. The simple fact is that Garland is now behind others and he will have to play out of his skin or he won't be picked. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the same goes from Jack Trengove.

I'd absolutely love it if he were to force his way into the side as HBF to replace Wagner.  He's been a great servant of the club and from that perspective deserves the opportunity to play senior football again. 

Was definitely Col against Buddy. He avoided getting in one on one strength contests and just read the ball in the air all day to get the drop on him. He also matches up well once the ball hits the ground with pace and agility that the bigger defenders dont have.

One hasn't played as a defender for over two years, one is a rookie listed player who has never even played a practice match at AFL level. 

Garland isn't a best 22 player, but he is someone with AFL experience who would have been in the side with Hibberd and Frost injured, and he would have kept pressure on the likes of Oscar McDonald. 

If we're relying on Cam Pedersen to play a key defensive role on even a semi-regular basis, we're in a bit of trouble.

Haha.

A mature age rookie who is a complete unknown quantity at AFL level and a guy who has been playing forward for the last two years and is certainly not an AFL level KP back. 

I wouldn't say we're 'cool' at all. 

In fact, we'll be in quite some trouble if one of the McDonald boys go down in round 1.

Sam Frost and Joel Smith are others. If Weideman comes on, or Tim Smith shows something, Watts could also play some time down back, to set up play with his great disposal.

Really disappointing for Col. I agree with those who point out that he's played very good footy in the past, but he hasn't produced in a while. I thought this season was make or break, and it seems like it might be break.

Guys like Frost, Hibberd and Joel Smith were probably already above him in the pecking order so I don't feel it's a massive blow to our depth.

Terrible news for Col.  He isn't best 22 but he is a more than capable replacement for an injured player.  We do have others who can play his role, but I'm not so sure they can play it as well as he could (eg. Keilty and Pedersen).  Let's hope the McDonald boys get through the season unscathed.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

    Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted.     It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
