On SEN they said he spent 1/4 time huddled over throwing up.

Well he did turn 20 yesterday.  Its all downhill from there.

Lewis was on the Sunday Footy Show and only mentioned Gawn's ankle injury, no mention of Oliver. It looked like he was cramping to me.

I can confirm that, he threw up at least 6 times and was really struggling at 1/4 time.

to play the game he did under that duress is a real credit to the kid

They brought out the sawdust at half time. Too bad for anyone who fell in it before that!

A tough effort by Clarry though.

And there were a couple of handballs that caught my eye as GIF-worthy. Will see what the replay reveals!

Maybe he and Watts snuck in a few celebratory tequilas before the game? Jack certainly played as if he were drunk.

Zing.

I reckon he wasn't right. In the last few minutes following a contest on the boundary he only jog/walked back to his mark and was very ginger despite not taking contact. Bit of a decoy role I feel.

So do we know Oliver wasn't hurt? If that's cramp then it must have been a helluva cramp.

What a one eyed piece of %#^*

Triple m should sack him from their panel

ive just gone onto twitter to give him an earful. Everyone should do the same

Wow.

A commentator didn't give a player votes so they are a piece of &*%$, should be sacked and mass abused on social media.

You need some perspective in your life.

Heh, very ginger...

He'd probably be a bit more dehydrated than usual after emptying his guts, so it was probably cramp.

MFCSS says it's the season though.

I was reading about Tom Mitchell and how he is in line to break the all time disposal VFL/AFL record for a season. In wanting to check this up I found another stat that will be broken. The most handballs in a season is currently owned by Josh Kennedy last year with 472 (av 18.88 across 25 games) last year. Tom is currently on 372 (av. 21.9) and Clarry is right behind him on 363 (av 21.4). Assuming Clarry keeps his average up for the rest of the season that takes him to 471 (Tom 482). Clarry plays 1 final and he should be past Tom and hold the record for himself. Not bad for a 2nd year player.

Assuming we make 1 final, he will also hold the record for the 18th most contested possessions in a season of all time and might sneakily make top 20 of tackles in a season if he holds his form.

This may be heresy in this thread, but shouldn't  Clarry be managed for a week. He has been full on this year and you feel as if he needs a freshen up coming into this phase of the season.

I have thought similar. Maybe vs Bris? There is a bye before the finals, but nevertheless it's been a big year for a guy just turned 20. Has been an inside midfield mainstay while others around him fell to injuries.

Theres 5 games left, and we are fighting for finals.

Nobody should miss games through being managed, but they can have light weeks on the track.

What Oliver has done this year at his age without rest, bye round excluded, is remarkable.

Given last year's issue with preliminary finalists you would think the club is all over this.

The club has amazing data on players over and above normal footy stats. The GPS tracking can monitor sprints, jogs, overall distance etc. They know how many contests a player gets to etc. Any drop off would be looked at and a rest plan implemented.

Having said that I have a sneaking suspicion Maynard might come in for Clarry this weekend.....

Would be better to rest him once Jones is back I would think.

This makes the most sense, IF they want to manage him.

It also looks like Maynard is waiting in the wings as well if we need some extra re-inforcement around the contest.  But I'm banking on Oliver playing out the remaining 5 games.

I think the role model of Viney would say to all the younger kids, play, play hard and push yourself hard to support the team.

Clarry, like Viney, is a competitive beast. Play him through to the pre-finals bye. No mollycoddling, no relenting in our push for finals and top four.

The club must ensure we play finals.  While we'd all love a top 4 finish and a GF,  gambling on that is not worth the risk of finishing outside the 8 this year.  So I wouldn't rest any top player unless there was internal evidence he was getting tired or injured.  Who knows,  if we win the next few matches they may be able to rest in a few weeks once we are clearly going to be in the top 8 (and 4) regardless of the last few matches (unlikely I guess).

Hats off to him. Throwing up at quarter time, cramping all over the shop after the game, and he was absolutely massive yet again.

He has been a 19 year old right up until this week. I don't think there would have been too many better seasons put together by 19 year olds.

I wonder if Clarry could be one of the rumoured outs.  Was definitely very sore after the game last week and didn't train on Tuesday (according to track watchers).  I didn't hear anything mentioned regarding training on Thursday, so it might be nothing.  But noting the inclusion of Maynard, it makes me wonder if he might miss.

Has Goodwin named a team and then changed it at the last minute yet this year?

Why'd he start this week?

Clarry has become an essential clearance player for us.

If memory serves, isn't Clayton on the lower end for minutes played? Maybe that's changed since earlier in the season though.
