I thought I would try the AFL Live pass tonight, in preparation for the Doggies game this weekend, but I cannot get it to work, has any body else had issues?

You're not really missing much (crappy game) - but it's working fine for me.

Make sure your AFL app is up to date as I've had issues before when it was a version behind.

What's your method of watching it? Phone, Ipad etc? There's a lot of info on bigfooty and whirlpool that might be helpful.

Seems like it's all stuffed anyway.

Get a VPN and buy the international version is one idea I've heard of questionable intent.

Ffs. I bought a full size tablet just to watch the footy.

Last time I checked a tablet isn't a TV, that's complete bulls*** that it won't let you go full size.

I don't know how it would work and what quality it would be but you could potentially download the iphone version of the app onto your ipad and that might go (closer) to full screen. But you may also lose quality.

That's a disgrace of a deal and they should be upfront about what you'll get, if you were wanting to cancel and get your money back I'd threaten to take it to the ACC because I think it's fair that unless they make it clear in the product you won't able to watch it full screen on the tablet, it would be fair to assume you could.

Foxtel likely put the foot down after recently getting fox footy as part of their tablet service - foxtel go or whatever they call it.

Some people are saying the terms and conditions still say it will work on Ipads. So they've got a fight on their hands. Most footy media will be too compromised to touch this issue but someone will.

I have been watching on my mini tablet for 3 years now. I will continue to watch on that. I refuse to pay for foxtel as I use to work for Sky Tv in the UK.

Not a surprise that they wont improve their service to get you to buy. They just make sure everyone else is [censored] too.

Agree with others.

As long as we're not convincingly beaten in any of these games and we can come away injury-free, I don't care about the win or loss. In the past I have because we've needed a bit of a momentum push going into the season and hadn't experienced the 'winning' feeling all that much.

But this year there's already an expectation that we'll make finals and we've clearly got an abundance of scary talent at our disposal.

Let's not look silly in these games though.

Players I'm most looking forward to seeing: Salem, Oliver, Brayshaw, Trac, Lewis and Melksham.

If those first four names can have injury free years and take their game to the next level, we'll really be banging on the door of the eight.

Also, can't wait to see Garland tear it up....

Carn.

I really hope the forgotten man Garland does put his hand up - I feel sorry for all the players of the post Reverend/ pre Roos era. Their careers have been cruelled.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's one of the 3 that gets omitted at the last minute.

If he does play, I'd like to see him on Crameri, while the McDonalds take Tom Boyd and Cloke.

My request for Demonland is that posters refrain from using the following expressions over the next 48 hours:

  • "blowing out the cobwebs"
  • "it's like dancing with your sister"
  • and if we win, "it's only a practice match"
  • and if we lose, "it's only a practice match"

I get the feeling that a couple of the JLT games will be used as opportunities for older/fringe players to show some value. I can't see the likes of Garland, Trenners, Pederson, Spencer etc getting a whole lot of games but when they're called up they will need to be able to do a job. That's been Hawthorns strength for so long, we need that attitude for us as well.

It'll be interesting to see how the Dogs line up given they were in the GF.

Anyone know where I can catch a replay online ? Hoping to get home in the early hours of tonight/tomorrow morning and watch the game.

Not sure how deep the expectations are that we make the finals in the AFL hierarchy. Personally I think that we are still under the radar with Gawn the only Demon that they rate in all their published lists of rated players. (They haven't got a Demon midfielder or forward for example.)

i concur with the players that you have listed however I would add Hogan, Weideman, Hunt & Trenners!

Watts for the Bluey!

p.s. Winning our three pre-season games last year didn't set us up to even win the first match.

Im looking forward to the game(s) today.

Am very interest to hear from track watchers about the new game style.... and see what we implement today.

I've got a feeling the fast game style may not be employed for every game. For example Round 1 v the Saints at Etihad we will use the fast game style but maybe not so much at the MCG

Has there been big noticeable differences this preseason??? Interested on thoughts, can't wait to see the boys and girls tonight out West

It's really hard to run Zone Defence in the Plough. Much better to go man on man with one of the blokes sitting at the bar and if you're lucky you might get a shout.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
