I still wish him well and don't know why people on here turn on our players so quickly.

I don't know why I have to like every player that pulls on the red and blue.

I don't have "feelings" for every player that plays for the MFC.

It's not necessarily "turning" on a player.  It can be utter ambivalence.

You don't have to like every Demon, or have feelings for them and ambivalence is fine.

I was referring to posters who get downright nasty/vicious at our players when they leave.

I think many of us were not exactly well disposed towards H well before he actually confirmed he was leaving - leaving his club in the lurch is hardly designed to endear one to those whose club's fortunes are dependent on list critical management decisions, and further whose hard earned goes in any way towards funding an egotistical show pony's retirement plans.

I have as much care about Harry as Harry cared about us !!

He's irrelevant. Apparently always was much the chagrin.

I dunno whether we are "just so entitled to know about everything to do with every player on MFC", and yes we can ask and speculate to our hearts content.

I'm just glad the whole thing is over and done with, we can all get on with it and H can do something he really wants to do, whatever that is

Dawes was not exactly a star for us but he gave it his all, H never seemed to get going and would have struggled to get a game, I guess we are about $1m better off.

Their prerogative.

You don't need to understand it.

Pretty happy this has all been finalized before the end of the year so everyone can move on ( most importantly the MFC).

Wishing 'H' all the best with whatever comes next - I hope you leave us with good feelings about the club you've spent the last couple of years with.

In my memory of 'H' over the last few years, he isn't involved in a lot of pivotal memories (on ground) but what I do know is that he joined us when we were basically a basket case club / team - how can anyone really quantify his influence? He won a premiership medal in 2010(?) and spent every day with our young team for the last 2 years - so in my mind I still see us gaining a lot out of this trade compared to those who see us gaining nothing after the Clarke / Varcoe / Lamumba deal.

Super impressed with MFC management on this one too - this is the sort of thing that historically lingers and plays out in the media - Golf claps all round!

I can't believe I sat through that entire movie (even if it was 50 years ago).

You did because Julie Andrews was smoking hot.

Seriously !?  That short-hared sexless creature ?

We're all different I guess.  I always had the complete opposite thoughts to yours.

As you know though, your male choice (McQueen) is king.

I have a thing for "short-HAIRED" ladies, ProDee.

Apart from Ali MacGraw, of course..

It's over and done with, as long as we never hear from him again I wish him good luck with whatever he does next.

As for H, I have good memories of his storming goal in his first game with us (against Gold Coast) that seemed to get the team fired up and kicking on for a win (our first opening round win in how long?). He always wore his heart on his sleeve which I don't mind and he has left the club wishing us no malice and in fact praising our list and wishing us the best of luck.  Good luck to him in the future.

I love a rip roaring Austrian musical.

Its up there with Springtime for Hitler for mine.

I thought Julie Andrews was more appealing in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang but that's just me.

There is no accountingfor taste- especially with Pro and McQueen lusting after ladies on life support.

Ciao H - it's been educational.

I liked us getting H as I felt that our previous recruiting policy seemed to revolve around picking up too many speculative players. We tended towards blokes who were on their second club as they weren't getting a game at their original, VFL players or skinny kids from the draft. I liked the idea we were picking up known quantities for once and H had runs on the board. It hasn't worked out this time but I don't think it means that we change this policy.

All the best H. You will be remembered as a Magpie but you had a brief cameo with us that we hope you will look back on fondly.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
