Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

As are a few clubs.

I read today how Carlton and Essendrug are into Declain etc. Why don't we have first dibs on Casey talent like the interstate clubs have first call on their academy kids? It would encourage AFL teams to align with VFL clubs if they knew they had first call on their talent, surely.

I'm glad we don't have first dibs at the moment. Otherwise that would mean the Western Bulldogs would have first dibs on their kids.

Yeah handy up forward and nearly took a screamer!

Bit of a shame we didn't see him in his more suited spot down back or get him running in the ruck as the ball was just bombed forward a lot but he did look athletic and physical.

If/when we get our academy, we can do likewise.

All clubs should have a junior academy from say 16 yr olds +. a schooling scholarship, & taught under elite coaching, but only playing school & Tac cup until say 17yrs minimum, then play VFL from 17yrs, if or when they're ready.

But not allowing footy to get in the way of school studies up to Yr 12.

Pretty well spot on. The only thing I'd like to correct is his ability to ruck. You are right in the sense he can't be a full time ruck but he has an incredible vertical jump that can match/beat most AFL players and the few times he has rucked against AFL listed ruck/forwards this year he has either held his ground or won.

His endurance is a bit on the average side and always has been and he definitely needs to work on it though

His endurance can be addressed in a pre-season but rightly he deserves to stay in our system. It would be a travesty if he ended up elsewhere and we got no compensation!

He's not in our system. The amount of MFC resources spent on his development has been minimal; we won't be compensated if he goes elsewhere and nor should we be.

Just got the word that the Casey staff members have said that Melbourne are indeed having a serious look at Declan

I wonder if the Dees will bite the bullet and pick him in the National draft knowing that he might be gone before the rookie draft.

I wouldn't take Keilty or McInnerney, both VFL players and I don't see a place for them at AFL level.

Agreed.

McInerney did nothing for me and I don't see an AFL quality kpp with Keilty.

Liam McBean looked great at VFL level, but his AFL form exposed the gulf between senior and seconds football.

Mitch Brown is a terrific VFL footballer and while he's shown a bit at the higher standard I don't project regular games at Essendon.

He may get rookied, but I see little more than a depth player.

If Oscar Mac wasn't on our list, was there anything that you saw of him at VFL level that made you think he'd be an AFL quality kpp?

I see more AFL attributes in Keilty and McInerney than I do in O Mac and Spencer.

While I agree with the majority of this post, brown and mcbean were in AFL environments and still didn't kick on. The club would need to decide of they think either of the Casey boys will kick on when in an AFL program

No club should have an academy.

The AFL should run an academy that all clubs have equal access to.

I disagree strongly, there is far too much of interstate players wanting to leave to go home.  This is bad for supporters who get attached, & it is for the clubs losing these star players.

Each club should have an academy of scholarship kids from within their own designated zones which the clubs will develop & nurture.

Each club should have 3 pre-draft selections per draft for their choice from their academy group. Father/Sons should be included in this 3 pre-draft selections.

After the clubs have nominated their 3 pre-draft selections, any other academy kids should be open to being selected in the national draft on a bidding system, as we have now.

This helps supporters, with local Hero's staying home, so the Tribalism returns back to the game.  It keeps local Heros's local.

And it encourages clubs to interact within their own zones.  Bringing back a communal closeness to the AFL's clubs.

Go back and look at the the VFL/AFL was like when zones were in place, it was a disaster.

There is a reason we have a draft and salary cap, they are the two most important aspects to the competition which is why the COLA and academies are the two biggest blights on the current system.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
