Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nice pick up 2803.

Problem, where was the photo taken? Was it with 100m to go, or 50m past the finish line or was it at 10:19am?

Don't believe it was 10:19am (the photos were posted on the website at 9:25am.

Looking at the other photos, I'm thinking it was just as they were crossing the finish line.

Anyone know how Oliver, Kent or Benken went.

You can see some of them on the Club website (and where they finished in relation to other players)!

Good work ANB, as well as Bugg and it's nice to have Jones up and training hard instead of recovering from neck surgery.

No doubt plenty in the rehab group didn't compete and there's a few others with work to do but the pics and video seems to show quite a few finishing in bunches not far from the winners.

We are starting to get some depth in the stocks of guys who can run to AFL standard through the midfield - with the 2nd tier guys getting a lot fitter - and backline - with the McDonald's, White, Wagner, Smith, Hunt etc  in particular. And if there's a spot where you'd rather speed and power athletes it's probably the forward line anyway.

ANB was a gun runner at school, believe he represented the State so no surprise, Bugg is an aerobic animal most other players at the club rate him as the fittest, Jones, no explanation required

They definitely don't. Everyone knows Tommy Mac is the fittest at the club.

No Tommy Mc is the best runner over 3km, kg for kg Bugg is acknowledged as the fittest overall

I don't wish to derail the thread, but I think you need to do a word check on that one.

Tom Mac is without doubt the best runner at our club. Aerobic endurance-wise. Bugg is definitely in the top bracket but T mac easily has him covered.

What does "fittest overall" even mean?

You do realise the world record for 3k Steeple chase for women is 8:52:78 so 9:45 is not that great for a professional footballer who is an endurance runner. And running and jumping steeples and a water jump is much harder than flat running.  When I was a junior I ran 1 mile(1616 meters) on grass in bare feet in the time of 5:05 which was not that great. I did not train every day. My son who was a decathlete ran 1500 meters after doing 10 events in 2 days in the time of 4:35 he was mainly a sprinter.

Unfortunately Geelong don't do 3km time trials anymore so we could gauge where Blicavs is at after 4 years in the AFL and an extra 15kg of muscle. I know he ran an 8:20 prior to being drafted (and when he was gunning for the London Olympics), but I very much doubt he'd get near that now.

Sat, if you could reply like this more often you would remove practically any excuse people have to take a swing at you.

No smackdown, no "high-Horse" sanctimony.

I endorse your post. Well done, and thanks for that info.

Riiight.

Let's see a steeple chaser hit Nathan Jones at full speed and see if he moves a millimetre.

Apples and oranges.

Congrats to any players who ran PBs. That is the key improvement you want to see across the group. Sounds like ANB has come back in ripping shape but it won't mean much if he still struggles to hit a target. All the best to him though hoping he can turn into a Lenny Hayes type.

Wont mean chit if they stick him in a fwd pocket where he isn't suited either.

Did Jordan Lewis run?

Jordan Lewis does not run around a track.

The track revolves around Jordan Lewis.

And Jordan cannot be held responsible for his actions if the track does not revolve at a suitable pace....

While the 3km time trial does nothing for me (we've had some absolute spuds run super times over the years), one thing it does show is that some of the players have worked hard over the off season and have come back to the club willing to do anything they can to improve.  Any supporter knows that you need to do more than run a few kms to make it as a footballer, but at the very least it does show we have the players on the list who are willing to put the hard yards in.

I'll reserve judgement on players surprising me until the real stuff begins.  Matt Jones was best 22 according to some at the start of the year, with much of it based off his training efforts.  He's now out of the AFL all together.

As long as the players keep working hard then that's all we can ask I guess.

I ran a race once

Every Christmas day, after lunch, around 6 pm....  I challenge my son to a race around the block

Ive never been beaten. More correctly, he has never taken me on. Points the same.

Respect to these guys, Jones especially.

They are fit. I doubt fitness will be a problem for us next year

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
