At the time , I reckon most of us would have said that H for Mitch Clark was a reasonable deal.

Over recent times I think we'd all agree that our list management has been pretty sharp. But Mahoney and/ or Viney (?) have made a slip here.

How did they let a string of list lodgement deadlines pass believing that H was raring to go ? Out of the blue on 1st day of training the press come out with "Where's H? "

Somehow H's status should have been resolved months ago. I'm happy to forgive the FD for this one list management slip-up - but it looks as if it sat in someone's too-hard basket until it was too late to free-up his spot on the list.

Clearly he's not an easy man to manage - all the more reason to force the issue sooner rather than later.

Guess he might prove us all wrong by helping Casey take the extra step this season !

While this article is primarily about sponsors, Jackson also talks about Lumumba. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/melbourne-demons-on-hunt-for-new-comajor-sponsor-20161214-gtb8mm.html

"...Lumumba, who is set to retire following issues with concussion, and has considered legal action in relation to his treatment from the club...Jackson said he hoped the club and Lumumba could reach an agreement by the end of the year. "I think some discussions will happen this week, and hopefully whatever Heritier wants to do we'll resolve that pretty soon...It's starting to drag on a bit so I think we need to work it out one way or another pretty soon, but I think that'll happen".

So, very unlikely that he will be on our list come 2017!  And it sounds like there will be no legal action which is a good thing for all really - everyone retains their dignity.

I'm glad we go into the season with that sorted so there are no player contract issues to distract the team or the club, like the last 3 years (Frawley, Howe, Hogan and Tom Mc).  I'm pleased he will go quietly and wish him well for his future.

I've no doubt it was a very short conversation with his lawyer.

This whole situation is a farce. If my workplace contract was as flimsy as an AFL contract I would have retired years ago.

Sorry to high-jack the LaBamba thread, but in relation to the above article about AHG sponsorship:

Given that we're on a lookout for a back of jumper sponsor, does that mean AHG are kicking in less money this time around? I guess so given that they'll have less exposure on our jumper.

It would likely mean that yes they are paying less overall as they are now sharing that space.

It would be good to know if we have increased the overall cost of sponsorship now that we are a different club to when they joined. And also if two seperate sponsorships result in a greater overall return than one taking the whole lot.

Here is an old, but recently used thread on AHG Sponsorship.  It may answer some questions on the recent AHG contract.

But I can't find a thread on 'Sponsors' in general.

My personal theory on his fall is that heavy metals in his hair resulting from years of hair colouring combined with the emptiness of his head resulted in an imbalance that caused him to topple

I cant explain shane warne, s erectile consistency so my theory is open to challenge

Is "sugar daddy disorder" a thing?

maybe part of it. picked up the paper this morning and there is the good doc looking in need of an iron lung with the latest 20 something, nubile, top-heavy popsy. doesn't he (she) realise it is no gender december? besides they never strike it rich in the long term with him.

lol had to google this, never heard of it.

Was worried it would be some crazy over-pc thing promoting one's choice of identifying as owlkin, but it's actually "no gender STEREOTYPES December". I guess they had to lose the 'stereotypes' bit in exchange for sounding catchy.

Not a bad cause for December, given all the kids who'll get gender-based toys. My boy loves The Powerpuff Girls and my daughter loves this toy CAT truck. Stereotypes be damned, play with whatever toy makes you happy I say!

Sorry for the derail.

How very Lumumba of me.

See what I did there?

It's very sad, that this guy's AFL career, is ending with Demon supporters just waiting/hoping for an announcement that he has retired and that we have settled with him.

Don't think that the door is ajar, the house has been demolished.

More chance of an 18 year old girl picking me over Jesse Hogan, to go on a date with.

One never knows.

Jesse has a stuttering approach.

I'm sure  you have a more natural action.

Mrs Leg probably discounts the likelihood as much as you do but I rate you over Jesse if it were in an impoverished Asian country where nobody cares about AFL.

In Melbourne or Perth you're a zillion to one shot.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
