Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Come on --  all too little too late.

Surely most at the club would completely be over him.

as a bloke , a clubman, would you really want to play with him ?  serious question

I wouldn't.  he may well have issues and more power to the fella to address them , but as a player to another....nuh !!

I would not hold your breath bing .

You have one side that is playing the long game so they do not cost the club one cent more than necessary and the other is taking no advice from anyone. He has no agent and is not talking to the players union.

That is a receipt for a long journey IMO.

That's true we do't Bing.  I would further put it does it really matter ?  i.e  in the great scheme of things that is.

Nobody wants to see anyone ill treated or 'un-loved"  but quite frankly the club needn't put up with shlt either.

Is there a world shatteringly valid reason for his non attendance ? Or is he being the king of aloof ?  sorry , my bad....he's a prince

Save the need to be at The Hague to address his ilk in the correlations between the loss of his beloved idol and the demise of the Leaping Lesbian Lizard  I do wonder if he isnt just a bit full of himself !!

They should make tomorrow's training  session compulsory , even if your injured or not you have to turn up to show support to the boys and start the preseason united.

Bet the Prince still wouldn't show.

I would imagine that is what is being discussed, his "retirement" and subsequent parting salary agreement. I have no idea how they work it out as the professional sporting world, as many have pointed out, works a completely different way to the regular world with contract pay outs.

Melbourne just needs to work through this in the most professional manner, but at the same time not giving him any more than what they feel he deserves after his frankly unprofessional conduct. That he hasn't even shown up for any pre-season commitments shows he's punched his card, but surely that should be something both club and player work out together.

Harry is obviously chasing the $ not the job, so even if we let him go he is bound to be engaging some ambulance chasing lawyers to sue because of the mental anguish he suffered from all of his concussions with the demons have left him unable to work, or even train.

So lets assume that he goes either willingly or not so willingly, what are our options to replace him, would we be able to draft another rookie, or would we be limited to promoting one of our existing rookies.

Nah the list is the list, we can't replace him but much like we did with Milkshake we can upgrade a rookie as "retired" essentially works the same way as long term injury list.

My thoughts would be Tim Smith as he's body hardened. Regardless of what happens he won't be playing for us again so we'all be upgrading one of our rookies.

If he is 'not fit to physically train', then you would assume that he would be obligated to be put on some kind of light duties with the rehab group.  If he is not playing ball by the club Re training and or rehab and assuming he is not going through the proper conflict resolution pathway without a manager or the AFLPA assistance, then the club probably has some kind of legal comeback for breach of contract etc.

Playing the breach of contract card may not be the best PR outcome, but it may be a decent bargaining chip to ensure that the club doesn't get screwed over by some compensation claim.  Overall, assuming the situation is as reported and Lumumba doesn't play 2017, then it's really just damage minimisation for the club, as we have already effectively lost a list spot for 2017.

I find it all a bit of a shame really as my impression was that Lumumba was starting to play some good footy again early 2016 and from the outside appeared to be a decent (be it different) kind of bloke around the club.  Guessing that when faced with the prospect of immanent retirement and loss of substantial income, Lumumba is just acting out of self interest and trying to ensure his immediate financial security, which would be partly understandable, but somewhat regrettable from the clubs and typical supporters perspective.

Random question - if we upgrade a rookie do you have to state who is moving onto the injury list and why? I'm wondering if H is holding out to be placed on an injury list - as it would gaurantee him income under some kind of AFLPA agreement.

Anyone know if that's the case? And if so does it limit our ability to upgrade until this is resolved?

As I understand it:

- A club can promote an 'A' rookie to the primary list at the beginning of the season if they have less than 40 players on that list, regardless of the reason.  We have 40 so unless a player goes onto the LTI list we can't promote an 'A' Rookie.  Lumumba was on the LTI list at the end of last year if the club applies for that to continue, then a spot will become available.

- A 'B' Rookie can play senior football at any time (not sure whether they are then technically on the primary list but they can play seniors).  Going on the Casey and training reports Joel Smith looks close to being a senior player so maybe he could step up and leave Lumumba on the list.

I would think the club would promote a rookie only if they expect him to play seniors otherwise it doesn't mean much.

You won’t see Lumumba play again. Club is working on an injury settlement that suits both parties. It will free up a spot on the list for a rookie upgrade.

It’s between Joel Smith and Tim Smith at this stage.

So we are paying memberships that are used to pay out a guy who is ok to play ? no way should he get an injury settlement if he is deemed ok to play. if he decides to renege on his part of the contract then that's too bad. only Melbourne F C lose out on this one.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
