no no - segwaying is acceptable...

derailing  - is when i call you an old codger and you call me a know nothing who can't add 2+2.

Is pedantry OK? If so, segwaying is acceptable if spelled segueing. :)

I said earlier in this thread that something smells fishy and that's only more so now.

If he had ongoing symptoms then that's fine, but 'gathering more information' doesn't sound legit to me. No reason why he couldn't join the rehab group for light running drills and be held out of any contact drills.

There are going to be a few picks between our last pick and the first rookie pick. So it isn't at all guaranteed that we'd get the same player. I'd like an answer before the draft, even if we pass on the pick.

Absolutely. If his concussion issues are in fact that serious that he still can't even go out for a jog, with the team, then he probably should just steer clear of any contact sports for some time.

I mean I'm no expert, but come on...

I wish him well. I like that he's a little different.

I think he's cooked, unfortunately.

Calling it :(

Damn. He has Verve !!

I wish he was fit and ready for this season because I think the new run and play on from the backline at all costs that was the Bulldog style this year will be emulated by all teams. Lubumba running out from the back pocket would work much better in a team plan where everyone is ready to run and make position forward of the ball carrier as well. In his first year he would run in circles looking for options from a static team with poor results obviously and not his fault.

That said I personally am not convinced he has been at the club very often since last July. There was a cryptic MFC presser from Misson I think in July saying he was away from the club recuperating from his concussions and they hoped he would be back at some stage for training! To me that was code for he has disappeared but we hope he gives us a ring. I remember joking that he had taken off to Rio for the Olympics.

I think someone reported that he was at the best and fairest night in September and said he was over his problems but it seems things have changed.

Gut feel is you won't be seeing him playing any time soon.

If there's movement on the retirement front, no matter the circumstances, then given the upcoming draft etc., better sooner than later.

Clearly though, there's something going on, either physically with lingering symptoms, or in terms of his motivation to put himself out there again after what he's been through (serious concussion).

Didn't the inventor ride his Segway off a cliff?

Surely he's finishing and the delay is part of some sort of financial negotiation on the back end of his contract.

If he is simply "seeking more information" after all this time - then he is battling some sort of concern about his long-term health. That's not the sort of mindset that will get him close to our top 22.

He really should be chafing at the bit now to get a footy in his hands. He needs to be passionate about his return to the game to make up for a lost season. All the signs are that he hasn't got the fire in his belly any more.

Mahoney and Co need to do the deal asap - to send him off as an excellent Collingwood player who's time at Melbourne was soured by injury.

As I recall he came to us on a 3-way deal which cost us Mitch Clark.Sad outcome at both ends!

I agree fully.....do a deal like Yarram and the Tiges have done today....so we can move on....that's my opinion

No offence to H.J, it is time for him to hang up his boots and that will give us a chance to recruit or upgrade someone else.

Hasn't final list lodgement passed 5 days ago? Tigers must be spewing!

Let's hope we don't have the same happen to us.

I'm glad you mentioned this Steve and I would like clarification. I'm certain I heard on the radio today that Richmond could replace Yarran through the draft.

I have heard/read the same, surely you can't do that after final list lodgement, unless the AFL flops again

I reckon the answer would be found on the Richmond fans forum, BBO.

I don't want to go there and trawl through the threads though because I'm far too intelligent.

I'll save Saty the trouble and enlighten the rest of you guys :o:  From WJ's thread in the Goodwin Trade forum

  • Saturday November 26 - NAB AFL delisted player free agency period (3) begins
  • Sunday November 27, 2pm - NAB AFL delisted player free agency period (3) closes
  • Monday Wednesday, November 30, 2pm - Final AFL club list lodgement

So we have until next Wednesday to do a deal with H, if we want another player on our list.

Let's face it - he hasn't played or trained since middle of last year.  Has not started preseason.  So its very hard to see how he can get fitness to play enough games in 2017 to trigger the contract extension for the following year. So his days as a senior player are numbered.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
